FX picks up " The Bridge" Starring Bichir, Kruger

    http://www.deadline.com/2013/02/fxs-...-up-to-series/

FX has placed a series order for " The Bridge" a crime drama set on the United States-Mexican border. Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir will play detectives on each side of the border who work together to catch a serial killer. Ted Levine, Annabeth Gish, and Thomas M. Wright will also star. The series is co-created by Elwood Reid and Homeland writer/executive producer Meredith Stiehm.

$5 says Levine is the killer. Also, that's a boring idea for a show in such a dramatically and thematically rich setting.

Happy to see Bichir get more work since his Oscar nod!

I liked the original series more than the Killing. Expect Emmy nom for Kruger if this is a hit.

LOL Between the Danes, British and Aussies we're taking over Pilot season in terms of remakes.

Catalina Sandino Moreno will also be in this. I know it's just television, but man...I want to see her working again, so if it takes a series to do it, then ok!

Hey, it's better than a bit part in Twilight.

Here is a short trailer for the show

The show looks dark and gritty and I am really looking forward to the show. I have seen a few episodes on the original Danish/Swedish version and from the trailer the show really seems to kept a lot of the essence of the original, but adds a lot of interesting new elements.

Just watched a marathon of the original series and it was really good, well acted, atmospheric, not quite up to par with The Killing but I was thinking how they could translate its heady mix of political intrigue, human drama and serial killer thriller to an American remake. I thought it was impossible. That trailer doesn't make me feel confident. I'm going to watch for Diane though.

Looks kind of like a Breaking Bad/Justified mix...in other words, I'm totally in.

I'm still leery because of the serial killer thing, unless it's actually about the lost women of Juarez or something like that, which is much more interesting and relatively untouched material.
