The Grammys - Album of the Year - 2000s/2010s

For condensing's, I'm putting the 2000s and 2010s AOTY winners (including last night) into the same poll. Same as before, one pick, one vote.

    2000 - Supernatural (Santana)
2001 - Two Against Nature (Steely Dan)
2002 - O Brother, Where Art Thou? Soundtrack (Various Artists)
2003 - Come Away with Me (Norah Jones)
    2004 - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (OutKast)
2005 - Genius Loves Company (Ray Charles & Various Artists)
2006 - How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (U2)
2007 - Taking the Long Way (Dixie Chicks)
2008 - River: The Joni Letters (Herbie Hancock)
2009 - Raising Sand (Robert Plant and Alison Krauss)
    2010 - Fearless (Taylor Swift)
2011 - The Suburbs (Arcade Fire)
    2012 - 21 (Adele)
    2013 - Babel (Mumford & Sons)

Looking at that list above, I forgot about U2 winning their 2nd AOTY award (if a pretty questionable Grammy vote) Ah Steely Dan, best band named after a dildo ever? Again like every other AOTY poll I've done, its a random list when you look at it chronologically in retrospect.

How AD votes should be interesting.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

The New RRA: Less Spam, still 100% ruining AD.

I know tremendously little about music, but the album from that list I have listened to the most is the O Brother soundtrack.

The only answers to this are O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Speakerboxx/The Love Below or The Suburbs.

I voted Speakerboxx higher than I voted O Brother on the Albums poll, so I guess that's my answer...

Ugh, what an awful decade. For me, that is and my taste. The closest to something I think is great is Adele, so that. If U2 had won for All That You Can't Leave Behind, like they should have, I would have went with that.

What is really scary is just how little this list has to do with what was actually popular and/or influential in music during the past decade. (River: The Joni Letters probably sold like 13 copies.)

The Suburbs is really great, though!

    I love Babel

Still, I haven't heard all of these through entirely. Hate on Swift all you want, but Fearless was kind of perfect throughout and while she has mimicked her own style to death with her last two releases, at the time it was progressive country at its best.

21 and O' Brother are great choices. The Suburbs is also really inspired.

My vote from what I've heard would go to 21.

about 9 / 14 were monster hits. the 5 that weren't are krauss & plant, steely dan, herbie hancock, ray charles. i love the krauss & plant album (it got really strong reviews too); it's really lovely. the herbie hancock is pretty nice too though kind of a boring choice; he's a fabulous musician though. the worst is prob. the ray charles duets.

Outkast, clearly. The soundtrack for OBWAT was an inspired choice as well.

The Suburbs is a remarkable album but still the lesser of Arcade Fire's works and that kinda bothers me.

I don't really hate Swift, but I found Fearless fairly pedestrian and trite. Red is a huge improvement, imo.

I voted for Speakerboxx and it has some incredible songs on it, but it's definitely minor Outkast. I guess it just speaks to how great they are that an album as good as that is one of their minor ones.

Add Raising Sand and the aforementioned 21 and I agree.

    Taking the Long Way

Listening to it all at once is a religious experience.

That being said the only one's up there I dislike are Babel and Two Against Nature.
