My jaw was pretty much on the floor for all of Beyond the Black Rainbow. Not that I was moved to tears or anything, but I was deeply touched by Cosmatos' imagination and how expertly he realized that imagination on screen with the language of surreal sci-fi cinema.

And I agree with all of the Holy Motors mentions here. Soooo many amazing moments in that movie!

    I Dreamed a Dream
    Come to Me
    On My Own
    A Little Fall of Rain
    Drink with Me
    Empty Chairs at Empty Tables
    Javert's Soliloque
    Finale

And a few more from the same movie.

The I dreamed a dream sequence was the most non-moving supposed to be moving sequence of the year for me. I understand how other people love it but I hate it. I actually used to love Anne Hathaway before Les Miserables. I became a huge fan after Rachel Getting Married and my love for her peaked after Catwoman. But her Les Mis shenanigans have officially placed her in Hilary Swank category. The overacting is out of control. She's gonna win the oscar this year - thank god because I can't take too many years like this - and hopefully she ll continue to make challenging decisions post Les Miserables but her performance here for me DID NOT WORK.

The blocks scene between Kitty (Vikander) and Levin (Gleeson) in Anna Karenina. What they truly feel for each other but can't express it through voice cause it would cause embarrassment is instead said through a letter game. The moment Levin shows the blocks of I L Y the entire theater wept. A great scene!

This. A million times this. Such a beautiful emotional scene and I love the angle they chose too. Just perfection all around. So much can be said without words.

I still haven't seen this (I'm going to tonight), but that was one of the most emotional parts of the book for me, so I feel like I'm probably going to cry during it. Or just during the whole movie.

But so far I think the only movie from '12 that made me cry was The Perks of Being a Wallflower (a few scenes toward the end). I also got emotional during the end of ParaNorman.
