Damn, I didn't know Hunchback had a fanbase. It's the only one I've never seen. I think I didn't want to see it as a kid because I was afraid I'd be scared.
Beauty and the Beast is my choice.

Beauty and the Beast is my choice.
Hunchback is the best period. It was probably my favorite film of 1996.
I love all of these except Tarzan and Pocahontas.
1. Hunchback of Notre Dame ("Hellfire" is probably the most brilliant thing Disney's ever done)
2. Beauty and the Beast
3. Aladdin
4 The Rescurers Down Under (love this move, the eagle scene is just amazing)
5. The Lion King
6. Mulan
7. The Little Mermaid
8. Hercules
9. Tarzan
10. Pocahontas
1. Beauty and the Beast
2. The Little Mermaid
3. The Lion King
4. Aladdin
5. Mulan
6. The Rescuers Down Under
7. Pocahontas
8. Hercules
9. Tarzan
10. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
I like Hunchback and even love parts of it, but I can't get past the gargoyles.
The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast are in a different league from the rest to me, mostly due to the Menken/Ashman songs. They were an incredible duo, and I wish they could have given us more. Honorable mention goes to Hercules for being one of Disney's funniest.
Great. Now who's going to watch Sunday Rose on SAG night??
There is a cut on YouTube of Hunchback of Notre Dame without the gargoyles - or there used to be, in any case.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is great but for me is held back a bit from joining the others in the pantheon due to both the score and the songs. They're pretty good but not in the league of greatness that the earlier flicks are. But the story is superbly directed and powerfully done and the animation is stunning.
I voted for The Lion King because it is one of my favorites of all time, but I should have voted Mulan just to spread the love. I have so much love for that film and not just because it's one of the first movies I remember seeing in theaters (I was like 6 or something).
I think Beauty and the Beast is pretty bad, LOL.
Hunchback and Lion King for me.
I've got a lot of love for Hunchback. Glad to see AD is high on it as well.
I need to re-watch Little Mermaid but Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King are also tops.
I threw a vote for Mulan though which is close to the top for me.
Easily the Best Disney Princess. It's a little sad she always gets relegated to the background along with Pocahontas compared to the other princesses.
Really? The score/songs in Hunchback are some of Disney's best ever, IMO. Some truly astounding work.
Looking over this list, I tend to feel like maybe B&TB and Hunchback are the only two actually great movies to come out of the Disney Renaissance.
TLK has some great moments, but is meh on the whole, and I've not much love for either Aladdin or The Little Mermaid (although at least the music in the latter is pretty great).
Love to really like them all.
1. Beauty and the Beast
2. The Little Mermaid
3. The Lion King
4. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
5. Mulan
6. Aladdin
7. Hercules
8. Tarzan
9. Pocahontas
10. The Rescuers Down Under
I finally got around to re-watching a few that I hadn't seen since their theatrical run (Hunchback and Mulan, basically), so I finally feel prepped to post my ranking. Beauty and the Beast is the only one that I think is on par (or close) with the very best of Disney's earlier animated output, but there are others that are quite strong as well. I like most of these movies with slightly varying degrees of passion and excitement, except Tarzan pretty much blows. So...
1. Beauty and the Beast
2. The Lion King
3. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
4. Aladdin
5. The Little Mermaid
6. Hercules
7. The Rescuers Down Under
8. Mulan
9. Pocahontas
10. Tarzan
