I don't understand how making fat people feel bad about themselves is going to lead to more people losing weight. That seems like a counterproductive strategy.

That all came up with all the people who wanted to talk about Gabourey Sidibe's weight during Oscar season a few years back, all out of concern for her health, of course (cause they really, really care about her, you know, really).

Of course with Christie it's a legit issue if he ran for president, but people always manage to get the snide comments in too. There was this one guy saying on Soledad's show on CNN just this morning that a fat person shouldn't be president because he would be a poor model for American youth, which I think is taking it a bit far. You could also make the argument that a plus size person might be a good model because he or she would show fat kids you actually can survive school bullying and amount to something in your life.

Ahhhh...but that would conflict with those who feel that fat people can't lead perfectly normal, happy lives that are successful - God forbid! All we're supposed to expect for ourselves is loneliness, disease, and a quick death according to some.

When the thread title is on the main forums page, sometimes it cuts off the end of the title, so I read "Rex Reed trashes Melissa" and I thought, "Oh no, Reed doesn't know the war he has started with AD by bad mouthing Dame Leo."
