Really liked this. But cannot give it a 10. Too soon for that. 9.
Will Oscar have Riva Fever?
Went back and forth between 8 and 9, went with high 8.
I voted in the poll wrong.
But... lets say high 8.
10. Absolutely devastating, featuring exquisite shot composition and deeply felt performances. Haneke crafts a crushing depiction of isolation with some of the most carefully crafted filmmaking I saw all year.
This just opened in my city today!

WE'RE GONNA FIGHT!
This weekend...one last chance to save Halle's career from complete oblivion. Oh, wait...
"...it's already done."
#THECALL.
9.5 that turns into 10. Impeccable. Still, third place of the year after the equally-good Holy Motors and Tabu.
I voted low 7. Now I wish I could have been cool like Artimus and voted 6![]()

Returning to Hollywood with a Vengeance in 2013
This film has nothing to offer anyone who has seen a similar situation. It's blase and obvious (and rather nasty). Haneke's own thoughts dont seem to have resolved to a point of insight. By plotting the film this way he has removed the need to actually delve into the situation and instead builds to an "out" ending that precludes anything but the illness porn.
'Thematically lacking' means it has no themes, which is rather absurd, as it deals with rather big ones (love, death). If you say it doesn't offer any insight into these themes, fair enough, but that's because I think this, much like a ZD30, is more of a reflective nature: the insight has to come from yourself, as you learn more about your own feelings about the themes, and the filmmaker removes himself and his thoughts from the equation. Which, in my opinion, is a good thing when you deal with moral issues such as the ones Amour deals with. I don't want Haneke to make a point, I want to come to a point myself.
