Hell yeah, I mean, look at this Oscar race. Lawrence or Riva with Chastain just behind, what could be better?
I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.

Riva as the unquestionable frontrunner with Chastain as the very dark horse, with no chance in hell of lawrence winning?

If Chastain is cast I take full credit for guessing it first. I will also admit if I'm wrong. Chastain seems the right age for Bale compared to Lawrence who is WAY WAY too young for Bale (she barely is old enough for cooper).

Bale and Cooper are only a year apart. Is one year really the difference between "WAY WAY too young" and "barely is old enough?"

I don't think either is true anyway. I remember the days of ScarJo + Sean Penn.

Jessica definitely fits the wife role much better. Jennifer is more fit for the mistress/con partner role but the press release already said that Amy's playing the mistress. Unless they changed roles again. Poor Amy!

They asked DOR about it on the red carpet and he sounded like he wanted to work with Jennifer again in the future. But my guess is it depends if she can work out the scheduling with X-Men since both films would be filming at the same damn time. Plus she stated she's booked up for the next two years (so that would be X-Men and the remaining THG films).

Agree about the script being good.

Btw regarding that Snowtown siggie. Daniel had shaved off his beard but I saw him on stage two weeks ago and he's grown it back (that being said looking forward to his next film).

Bale looks like he's in his mid-40s, imo.

I'm fairly sure the next X-Men doesn't start filming until April. So I guess depending on scheduling/the size of the role Jennifer could potentially do it. Whoever it is I hope they make the announcement soon.

Yep it doesn't start until April. Pretty sure she said in one of the interviews (can't remember which one) that she has a couple of weeks of Catching Fire left to film and wanted a break before X-Men started (of course I can't find the damn article now).

ETA: Found the CF part (she's doing the CF filming end of February / March) http://mockingjay.net/2013/02/05/jen...late-february/

But honestly in this case, she might do the film since it's a small part. But I'd rather someone who is blooming around the same age as Amy playing the wife. And usually I don't have a problem with the age factor.

Quote from Margo Martindale in recent interview:

Well, hopefully this time next year, you’ll be asking Meryl to help you up the stairs at the Oscars.

*Laughs* Well, let’s not go there. I think that when everyone got this job, you had that looming around in the back of your mind. Juliette Lewis said, “So much came with getting these roles,” and I responded, “I know. I wish we had never had that. I wish we had just been out here doing a movie.” Which we were, but there was so much expectation. There’s something about that that makes it hard.

I was wrong going with Chastain especially since I just learned Miss Julie starts filming in March.

Girl wants to break those youngest-to-X-noms records.

And I'm not saying that future projects have any bearing on voters' minds necessarily, but Russell reuniting with Bale, Cooper, and Lawrence, when he brought each of them to new heights awards-wise, plus getting Adams who gets a nom every other year, and Renner who recently scored 2 consecutive noms, at least sounds like it could give him a 3rd acting nomination bonanza. Russell just makes more sense as next week's winner each day.

If Lawrence wins, she'll pretty much be the Best Actress with most good follow-up project since...Cotillard, I guess? Yet she didn't manage a follow-up nod just yet. Before her, Mirren, Theron, Kidman also had good stuff post-Oscar, the rest, not really.

    Now I'm thinking...

Amy Adams, Untitled David O. Russell/Abscam Project
    Cate Blanchett, The Monuments Men
    Jennifer Garner, Dallas Buyers Club
Jennifer Lawrence, Untitled David O. Russell/Abscam Project
    Margo Martindale, August: Osage County

This almost looks too good to be true a year in advance. Should be interesting how everything plays out.

Are we sure the David O Russell/Abscam movie is coming out in 2013?

Nope. It's listed as 2014 on IMDb, after all. But since it's in pre-production, people assume it'll be ready by 2013. If Russell doesn't wanna rush it, though, I guess it'll go to 2014.
