And if you read my other post you would see that I go on to distinguish between reviews and critics awards. I agree with the point that I think you were making that a large studio awards contender does not need to win critics or breakthrough awards to be a strong player the way a small indie does. However, if one gets mixed or bad reviews then it's a different story.

I totally understood what you both were saying, especially after RageColoredGlasses pointed out how the critics changed Les Miz's bid. no harm no foul, just englightenment.

Yeah, some of the reviewers were saying it wasn't exactly subtle. Nonetheless, the dialogue is still way more on-the-nose than I had anticipated.

I agree. Fruitvale has to be loved from across the board and sustain that all year in order just to be nominated. MMMM dropped off in a big way when it got no guild recognition..But Harvey is a master at this so he'll probably be holding screenings very early.

MMMM only generated acting buzz and then they studio made the mistake of only sending screeners to the acting branch; that has never worked and we saw it again this year with Dowd, Kidman and Weisz.
