I'm totally with Sio here. I thought it was so DUMB. Not in a fun way a lot of the time either.

This was probably the most disappointing film of the year for me. On paper, there are a lot of elements that could work really well, but the execution is just so...rote.

It's blatantly commercial filmmaking at its absolute worst and most banal. And it's just a huge falloff from the great set-up that Casino Royale provided the franchise...the intrigue is gone, sadly.

Fun...like a lot of fun, but not as amazing as Casino Royale. It's faded slightly for me.

    10.

At long last a Bond film with high emotional stakes, insight into key characters, a maddeningly dangerous villain and overall superb screenplay.

    Casino Royale

Skyfall is very close, but it lacks the freshness.
I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.

Fine and entertaining, the main plot never really held my interest, it felt Dark Knight-lite. Javier Bardem delivers stunning work. Dench phones in some potentially interesting material for herself. Deakins work is uneven (anything in London felt uninspired) but when it hits, man does it hit. Action sequences were pretty to look at but not particularly thrilling, especially the overblown opening sequence.

Apart from some jazzy throwbacks I thought the score was as intrusive as the one in Prometheus and the CGI wasn't particularly convincing.

Meh, Bardem was very one-note and it feels like a shadow of his work in No Country for Old Men. Dench, on the other hand, was pretty awesome.

This is one complaint I will never get. His character here (a terrorist that has a flair for showmanship) and Anton Chigurh (the very epitome of evil itself) couldn't have been anymore different? Even their awful hairstyles look so different!

    My mom HATED this.

Until they went to Scotland. "Oh, it's so pretty. I love Scotland."

It's not actually a criticism of the performance and I'd like his performance no more if he hadn't done NCFOM, but comparing them on a strictly superficial level, his performance in Skyfall is just additionally ineffective.
