We have an actual race this year. A three-way race? Or maybe even four-way? Who knows? What percentage of the Academy do you think has seen one of these films?![]()

I think Brave and Pirates can be written off right now. This is between Ralph, Frank and Norman and I have no idea who is going to win.
1. Wreck-It-Ralph
2. Frankenweenie
3. Brave
4. Paranorman
5. The Pirates
I'm praying for either a Ralph win or a Pirates surprise.

Cars was more successful than Brave overall, and still lost to Happy Feet. So I don't see it winning.
I think it's between Wreck-It Ralph and (Ugh) Frankenweenie. I'll go with the former, mostly because it was more of a financial hit, whereas Freankenweenie was a pretty big disappointment. I'm pulling for ParaNorman or Pirates though!

Wreck-It Ralph has to win. The other nominees are all trash.
Maybe not, but again, Brave isn't nearly as strong as Cars, which also came in the middle of Pixar's golden streak. Cars 2 seriously tainted their streak, and Brave wasn't a comeback from that so much as it stopped the bleeding caused by Cars 2. It's also the first Pixar film to be nominated ONLY for Animated Feature and nothing else (Despite a really weak year for Score and Song). And keep in mind that all of Pixar's Animated Feature winners were MASSIVE critical smashes:
Finding Nemo - 89 on MC (13 100s)
The Incredibles - 90 (14)
Ratatouille - 96 (20)
WALL-E - 94 (21)
Up - 88 (19)
Toy Story 3 - 92 (16)
Brave has a 69 with only one 100 rave (From the Miami Herald). It's actually the lowest-scoring film nominated this year on MC (Though the other four are in the 72-74 range, so it's not quite blown away). I just don't think Pixar's coattails are strong enough this year to lead it to a win.

I don't think Brave or Pirates! will win because I don't think anyone cares about them. Frankenweenie has the highest pedigree and could be a way of giving Tim Burton an Oscar (and deservedly so) but Ralph also has a lot of love and is also Disney. I honestly have no idea what to make of ParaNorman.![]()
I voted for Frankenweenie, but I think Wreck-It-Ralph may also take it. I think Frankenweenie has the edge if enough voters think Burton is due for an Oscar.
I, too, think Frankenweenie will win, as a way to reward Tim Burton. But I wouldn't be surprised by Wreck-It-Ralph taking this either.

The only film that makes you cry is Frankenweenie so that takes it
At the moment I'm guessing it's a two horse race between 'Frankenweenie' and 'Wreck-It Ralph'. A traditionally animated (if stop-motion counts as a form of traditional animation) film by a prolific gothic director vs. a CGI movie by the guy who brought us 'The Simpsons' episode 'Cape Feare'. Either way, it'll be a win-win situation for Disney.
The prospect of Rich Moore and David Silverman winning Oscars in the same year is kinda fascinating.
I think this is clearly a Frankenweenie vs. Wreck-It-Ralph race (I'll vote the former), yet ParaNorman and Brave could still upset?Anyway, anything will be better than Rango

Yeah, I have no idea.
01. Frankenweenie
02. Wreck-It-Ralph
03. Brave
04. ParaNorman
05. The Pirates! Band of Misfits
The one thing I never hear discussed in this competition is that between the two presumed front-runners (Frankenweenie vs Wreck-It Ralph), one unquestionably skews more toward the general Academy demographic over the other: Tim Burton delivers an old-school film, B&W, mining classic horror traditions, with an older cast of Hollywood veterans. It's also the more adult film of the two (less funny, darker & more gothic). WIR is bright, funny, colorful, but will older Academy members recognize all the video game parodies and memes? I thought the film was fine (I prefer the Burton, and ParaNorman too) but if you don't get all the In-Jokes, the film may not hold the same entertainment value.
