I liken Anne Hathaway's speeches to Hilary Swank's in 2004. She's just trying too hard and it comes off as really insincere to me. I'm sure she's a fine person, but c'mon don't go up there and say "Oh my God, this is really happening". Well, I mean...you can, but we all know you're going to win. You know you're going to win. This isn't a Marion Cotillard or Tilda Swinton scenario where it's a true up-in-the-air or tight race. Everyone knows she's going to win. Just like 99% of the people (minus Bening fanboys) knew that Swank was going to win in '04. So for Swank to say "I'm just a girl from a trailer park who had a dream" on the night where she won her second Oscar...it just seems really fake and bothersome. But I probably read too much into it anyway. I just hope Anne's speech is more like her SAG one (even that one wasn't perfect, but at least she wasn't "as" annoying).
