I only watched this off and on the first two nights, and not too many contestants are sticking out in my mind right now. I do like the new "I Nominate" concept and would like to see that continue in the coming auditions. Most of my attention focused on the judging panel, which shouldn't be how it is, but that's what TPTB probably wants anyway for all the money they're shelling out for them. Randy's always blah Randy, so whatever to him. Keith Urban was a non-factor and seemed uncomfortably out of place. I'm so used to Blake Shelton on "The Voice" with his outsized personality, and Urban was just there from what I saw. He's reduced to a shrinking violet in between those two oxygen hogs. This season is going to be all about Mariah and Nicki Minaj outdivaing each other, and it's already tiresome. They can both have some moments of clarity when they aren't in "Mean Girls" mode. I shudder to think what those two are going to pull in the live shows. I am starting to see Mariah's oddball material side come out with some of these singers. I rarely bother with her music or antics, but that was nice for what it was. Nicki could use a dose of Humility 101, and her bluntness could reach Cowell levels unchecked this season. Either way, I'm curious to see where things go now.

I understood what Nicki was trying to say, and the fact that she was sticking up for the contestant kinda makes all the bad press (and Babwa Walters) look dumb. I do get why Mariah was getting annoyed, though. Nicki was grouping her with jackass Randy.

I think Nicki was overreacting. I get her point, but it was nothing to get so upset about. But, I guarantee if that girl comes back and she's not singing a countrified version of a song, then she's going to get cut because, as the judges were trying to steer her, she doesn't have the voice or persona of anything but a country singer.

That argument a. was completely blown out of proportion and b. was not Nicki Minaj's fault. She actually has a point. The minute that girl said she doesn't necessarily want to do country the other 3 jumped down her throat. I can see their point because I can't really see her doing anything but country, but I command Nicki for trying to keep more of an open mind even if ultimately it means nothing. The whole thing is such a non-event though.

Doesn't matter. Granted, I didn't sit and watch it all the way through, but she seems (from what I've seen) to actually have input, take this seriously and appreciate a wide range of music. She is constructive and supportive and dominates the pannel in a way I didn't expect (which is probably why Mariah is over this season already).
