    USC Scripter Nominees

A tie resulted in six sets of finalists for the 2013 honor, rather than the typical five.

    Argo
    Beasts of the Southern Wild
    Life of Pi
    Lincoln
    Perks of Being a Wallflower
    Silver Linings Playbook
Spielberg vs. the Industry. Who Will Win In The End?

    Spielberg lost.

Last year they nominated A Dangerous Method and Jane Eyre so I hoped they'd go more adventurous.
I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.

So the tie was between "Perks" and "Beasts" I assume? Having a feeling "Pi" might win this as the stature of the book plays a pretty big role with them.

No Zero Dark Thirty; too controversial I suppose.

    ZDT is an original screenplay.

    LOL at Sasha's tweets. sheesh.

I read this quote on tumblr the other day, and I find it appropriate at the moment: "There’s a fine line between autism and being an obsessed crazy person on twitter."

    Will Oscar have Riva Fever?

I don't know, it feels like Argo is getting the kind of sweep usually reserved for like self-important historical epics like Schindler's List or something. I just don't get it. I mean, I understand why it's so liked LOL, it's entertaining, deals with politics, Hollywood coming to the rescue, every actor under the sun it, actor turned director, yada yada. And yet, I still. Just. Don't. Get. It. The sweep, I mean. Nothing against the film. I just somehow still find it weird that this rose to the top among these nominees. There's a reason some of us are holding on to the idea of the Affleck snub pity party - it's just because... we don't get this sweep LOL. I mean, you can explain the whole situation to me again about why Hollywood loves this movie and how the other contenders' campaigns and releases stumbled but some of us still don't get it and find it weird.

    This.

I certainly don't dislike Argo - I actually think it's a pretty great movie. But, yeah, the sweep is utterly baffling. Especially in the company of the nominees this year.

Yeah, the fact it's happening in this year where all the BP Nominees are critically raved sans Les Mis is kind of startling.

Honestly, this isn't as bad as The Descendants beating Moneyball and Tinker Tailor.
