I do not like RAM. At all. Vampire Weekend, Rhye, and Paramore are my faves of the year thus far. In about that order.

One of these things is not like the other...

This is more or less how I feel. Although I do like the Panda Bear track a great deal more than you.

So Black Skinhead was truly unbelievably good. And I generally hate Kanye's output.

The Panda Bear track is one of the best things in the whole record in fact.

The debut album by Savages is just so good! It feels like a hybrid of Patti Smith and 90s girl riot bands (like L7, 7 Year Bitch, etc.). I am really loving this return of punk and grunge to the music scene.

I don't think the Panda Bear track is awful or anything. I just find it...too Panda Bear for its own good, lol (and I could take or leave him in general). It's pared down and repetitious much like you'd expect, but I don't find any of its separate elements very compelling, nor do I think it really builds to or reveals anything by the end. But to each their own. RAM is one of those things where I like pretty much every track well enough, but something about it all together just doesn't, to use one of this forum's favorite words, transcend. Hell, it'll probably end up on my year end list, but I just didn't fall head over heels.

^ yea, I'm watching the Billboard Awards (I'm on the west coast). I never really enjoyed Tracy Morgan, but I loved his monologue. I couldn't tell if he was mispronouncing people's names on purpose, or if he really thought that's how they were pronounced - Celine Gomez, Little Wayne, Kisha, he even made a joke about Django Unchained and pronounced it D-Jango.

Someone added WWE commentary and it's glorious.

Tricky has a new album out this year? He is still in the business all this time, who knew?

I believe he has the same probem I have at times. (I keep forgeting Segue doesn't spell out "segway.")

I watched the Billboard Awards only (of course) for the closing Prince tribute. Some thoughts:

    (1) I was kinda impressed with the tribute video. Usually whenever these are done for Mr. P, they're exclusively 80s clips, at latest they extend to DIAMONDS & PEARLS. But Billboard's clip did clips from the "My Name is Prince" video and EMANCIPATION and even RAVE UN2 THE JOY FANTASTIC.

    (2) "Best live performer of his generation" - I bet Prince's ego loved hearing that ("Eat it Mike!"), and to be fair that statement from the tribute video might be accurate.

    (3) I don't like the new slowed-down "Let's Go Crazy", which he's been doing in concert lately. That worked well (rather brilliantly) when he did that for another 80s hit of his in "I Could Never Take the Place Of Your Man," but "LGC" not fast...why even bother?

    (4) "FixUrLifeUp" sounds good. I liked the lyric video, which somehow went from somebody loading a gun to spreading butter on bread.

    (5) Overall good performance. No I won't join those online who thought it was awesome, but slowed down "LGC" sorta took me out. Didn't watch rest of the Billboard Awards, but didn't several of the performers lip-sync?

I think RAM is good, but I listened to it once and don't find myself eager to go back. I am so caught up in Vampire Weekend and The National, it's definitely playing third wheel here for me.
