So, of all things, why does Emmanuelle Riva go to that? Did she think that NYFCC was the same thing as LAFCA? Where on earth is Empress Zhang to interject her epiphany that French people aren't really acting, and that Riva was just being her old-ass, senile self?

    Damn this season.

If it's between Chastain and Lawrence I am rooting for Lawrence. And I HATE myself for it. But she at least showed some range and emotion. Chastain gave one of the blandest lead performances in a movie I have seen in some time. And it's not because of her character. She was just...dull. When you have a restrained character like this whose pushing the story as a procedural you need an actress with charisma to carry this. Like Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman for All the President's Men. Another actress could have done so much more with this role. I watched it a 2nd time hoping I was overreacting and being unfair because I did want to root for her because I liked her a lot in The Help. But Lawrence came across as a star. Chastain is no leading lady. Character Actress Chastain?

Quite frankly Nanny Watts shouldn't give up yet because quite frankly I was unimpressed with both. But between the two it's no contest Lawrence for me. Mostly due to the fact the great Chastain was exposed due to lack of charisma.

I wouldn't be stunned if Wallis or Riva get nominated if they don't push through and win on a passion vote. Annette Bening must be livid she can never give a good performance in such a soft year like this for women.

Now I know that people are gonna criticize me for leaving Cotillard out. But before you do just know that worse has happened. Remember Angelina Jolie in A Mighty Heart?
That's what Guy Lodge (incontention) is predicting, but I'd rather see Cotillard get in.

I'd be dissapointed if Cotillard isn't nominated, but Riva would be a great replacement. I'd prefer if Riva would replace Watts, though.

A lot of people try to dismiss Cotillard's chances but if she gets nominated (and IMO, she will) nobody will be able to say she was weak after all. She's been a frontrunner since march, hitting all major precursors and even if she backed up a little bit when Lawrence & Chastain came out, she has always been here. Let's be clear, I really don't believe she can win the oscar (Its gonna be Chastain or Lawrence) but a nomination has always been a sure thing IMO. We all knew it was gonna happened since she succeed so well in Hollywood & with indies, some fans tried to push her in supporting for Inception, then she scored with Nine (Critics' choice & Globe) & finally she gave a nearly oscar worthy performance in Midnight in Paris, making friends along the way and building one of the best post-oscar career I've seen in years.

It's not a surprise at the end, it's pretty fair actually, after all it's gonna be only her second nomination & honestly she deserves it because the performance worth it & because she kind of earned it like Naomi Watts. IMO the Oscar race is between Chastain & Lawrence but the SAGs & GLOBES will be a 4 way (Chastain, Lawrence, Cotillard, Watts). I predict the same lineup than the SAGs for the Oscars.

    Oscars
    Lawrence
    Chastain
    Cotillard
    Watts
    Mirren

They're wearing the same dresses they wore at the party my friend organized in Cannes last May, unless these were actually from that party?

This is me dancing with Realness. I actually really danced with her later that night on Billie Jean.

And here's a crap one I took of Nanny.

Long time lurker, recent poster, so forgive me if I'm starting off on the wrong foot with you all, but...

    Realness? That's stupid.

Lol I just remembered Watts replaced Chastain in that Diana movie and Chastain wrote a post on Facebook about how Naomi is one of her favorite actresses and her performance in Mulholland Drive is perfection.

I really hope Realness is now Chastain's official AD moniker.

Wallis is not happening, Riva vs. Watts vs. Mirren for the last two spots, with Mirren looking good.

I think it's safe to say it's down to 7 - the five who were nominated for BAFTA + Wallis & Watts. So either we'll get same lineup or they'll replace one of them, Yes Sherlock is being smart tonight.

Watts is on the cusp. She could be Jolie'd (BFCA + SAG + GG + no BAFTA --> no Oscar)

Chastain, Cotillard, and Lawrence have everything.
Helen Mirren is 4th -- she has GG + SAG + BAFTA, and...is Oscar-winning dame Helen Mirren
5th spot: Watts (vs. Riva vs. Wallis)
