Yeah, I don't buy the "vote for pity" anymore either, with Affleck and Argo sweeping here and there.

This is the most jarring aspect for me. No one seems to give a fuck about Bigelow's vastly superior effort.

Well Bigelow won recently and made a challenging movie, so therein lies the lack of sympathy. It is really is a shame, though.
