Well, because some of us are wondering if the ONLY reason Argo is a Best Pic frontrunner is because of the Ben snub. But, who knows - Argo may very well have been inevitable all this time but we were focusing on the flashier contenders that came latter. Perhaps it really is Crash.

At least I am pretty sure it won SAG becuase of Affleck's snub.

There are 100,000 SAG voters...? How would an Oscar snub switch the choice of tens of thousands of people?

It could won but when there are 3 more strong contenders it is so hard to win it. Plus many standing ovs on awards shows indicated people's sympathy for Affleck.

Argo had a broad range of film and television actors in it (including Cranston, a TV nominee and winner that night) and that can't be underestimated.

Omg, there's a solid chance that Argo only wins the Best Film/Director awards at BAFTA, which would make my life.

I'd give anything to see Argo win ONLY Picture at the Oscars, but I'd take Pic/Dir/OScr/AScr split up between four films
I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.

I keep thinking of Ebert's opening line about Argo during the TIFF.

I mean he's right, but Argo didn't win the audience award. Then again, Slumdog and The King's Speech were the only one of those that did too. I'm fairly certain the reason Argo lost was its lackluster portrayal of Canada's involvment. I talked to a few people that really liked the film, but were disheartened by our portrayal (or lack thereof in the film).

Especially in Part Two when he mentioned her having a thing for British men. I seriously wanted her and David to bitch slap him throughout the interviews.

I didn't like the way he brought up Russell's past either, there's a polite way to do it and that wasn't it. DOR handled it well though.
