Out of 40 films, Casa de mi Padre is the worst film of 2012 for me. It's obviously trying to be one of those "bad in a funny way" movies, but every joke that is attempted falls completely flat. It makes the mistake of thinking that repetition=hilarious, and when the punchline isn't even funny in the first place, you know it's definitely not going to be any better if it's strung out over a long period of time. I sort of chuckled at the trailer, and after seeing the movie, I know why I found that funny but not the actual thing. This should have been a 2 minute short on youtube or an SNL sketch. Even at 84 minutes, it's too long to sustain the joke.
Recently watched films:
The Friends of Eddie Coyle - ****
The Proposition - ****1/2
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - ****1/2
O Brother, Where Art Thou? - ***1/2
How to Die in Oregon - ****
I'm quite smitten with 'The Last Days of Disco'. I was particularly impressed with Kate Beckinsale's performance, though I find it disappointing she hasn't had a role of similar calibre since despite her success; I doubt anyone at the time anticipated her career would have launched in the trajectory it did.
Before Sunrise/Sunset
Are just perfect films, they're like almost flawless.
I saw the seventh seal yesterday. it warped my fragile little mind. i'm in love. my favorite film of all time!!!!!! It outbeat Les Miserables (2012)! Sorry, Hugh Jackman's chest hair!![]()

Legend Mara - lighting up our screens since 2009
Every situation is different. When my wife and I split up a few years back I cried at the drop of a hat, but then again it was kind of helpful in a way. When we split, (500) Days of Summer was the big deal at the theaters and we actually went and saw it together...we both cried...and then we got back together so...![]()
