Out of 40 films, Casa de mi Padre is the worst film of 2012 for me. It's obviously trying to be one of those "bad in a funny way" movies, but every joke that is attempted falls completely flat. It makes the mistake of thinking that repetition=hilarious, and when the punchline isn't even funny in the first place, you know it's definitely not going to be any better if it's strung out over a long period of time. I sort of chuckled at the trailer, and after seeing the movie, I know why I found that funny but not the actual thing. This should have been a 2 minute short on youtube or an SNL sketch. Even at 84 minutes, it's too long to sustain the joke.

I'm quite smitten with 'The Last Days of Disco'. I was particularly impressed with Kate Beckinsale's performance, though I find it disappointing she hasn't had a role of similar calibre since despite her success; I doubt anyone at the time anticipated her career would have launched in the trajectory it did.

I adore this movie and it contains the only Kate Beckinsale performance that doesn't make me vomit.

She was good (not great, though) in The Aviator.

, I hope everything gets better, blue.

Watch a movie that makes you feel happy and cheers you up. After my breakup I watched Pride and Predjudice, of all things, and it made me feel a lot better.

Every situation is different. When my wife and I split up a few years back I cried at the drop of a hat, but then again it was kind of helpful in a way. When we split, (500) Days of Summer was the big deal at the theaters and we actually went and saw it together...we both cried...and then we got back together so...

Very sorry to hear that, bluerose. Stay positive!

Yet, this discussion should probably be moved the the regular Random Thoughts thread. And there's nothing wrong with discussing it there!
