I missed your Cecile de France mention earlier. She is probably my winner right now.

This is probably the best supporting actress lineup for the year that I've seen anywhere so far. You gotta get Sally Field out of there, though.

I'm still not sure that Lea Seydoux, Emily Blunt, and Doona Bae objectively deserve nominations, but I did like them quite a bit (Bae the most). 2012 was just so weak for this category, I feel. Nothing is really popping out at me and I have seen tons of films.

BTW, to everyone, I consider Nicole Kidman a LEAD in The Paperboy. Still not sure that performance deserves a nomination either but, again, I did like it quite a bit.

Right now my supporting actress ballot looks like this:

Cécile De France as 'Samantha' in The Kid with a Bike
Judi Dench as 'M' in Skyfall
Carmen Ejogo as 'Sister' in Sparkle
Louise Harris as 'Elizabeth Harvey' in The Snowtown Murders
Anne Hathaway as 'Selina Kyle' in The Dark Knight Rises
Anne Hathaway as 'Fantine' in Les Miserables*

I'm actually really happy with this, and I still have a lot of the big guns to see (like Kidman, Kruger and the girls from Anna Karenina). I haven't found this to be a lacking year at all. I mean, if I ended the year with this lineup I'd be more than happy with it. Hathaway was exceptional in both performances and Ejogo was magnificent. Dench was a surprise of depth and De Frances built such a strongly grounded and emotionally complex character. Harris is my weakest link here, and she's far from weak.

I went for Anne in Dark Knight Rises instead of Les Mis. She deserves a nom no matter which film, I just prefer her in TDKR!

Will Oscar have Riva Fever?

I allow an actor or actress to land a double nom if both performances would make my top five. Hathaway has my #1 for Les Miserables and my #3 for The Dark Knight Rises. Carmen Ejogo has my #2

This was Hathaway's year for sure. She had two very different roles and she nailed them both. Gurll earned that Oscar

Hathaway can suck it. (Plus, she won my award in 2008.)

It is the year of DOONA BAE.

I really do not care for Hathaway in Les Miserables.

Like her much more in The Dark Knight Rises
but, like so many others this year, that felt more "good" than "amazing acting which needs to be recognized".

I'm gonna have the most weird-ass supporting actress ballot ever.

In no particular order:

Doona Bae, Cloud Atlas
Carmen Ejogo, Sparkle
Anne Hathaway, The Dark Knight Rises
Rebel Wilson, Pitch Perfect
Ann Dowd, Compliance/Judi Dench, Skyfall

Not sure about Ann Dowd and Judi Dench, but that's pretty much it. I notice that if I pick Dowd, there are basically no Oscar-contented performances here. (Dowd is only kinda sorta-ish contented, so yeah) I just went with what I thought was good, and for some reason I ended up with a really quirky ballot. I'm actually half considering putting up Rebel Wilson for #1 just so she has a vague, barely there shot of getting a nomination though. I'll probably still pick Bae though.

Hathaway's Fantine unseen...

1. Ann Dowd
2. Doona Bae
3. Nicole Kidman
4. Sally Field
5. Eva Green

I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.

Please make Ejogo happen

And Dowd is lead...people should be voting for her there

Move Legend to #1 and it's a good
