I don't think Moonrise will happen, but I suppose Django can.

Ok, Les Mis isn't bombing at the box office. I just meant, compared to two months ago (it being possible Best Picture of the year and multiple acting noms), it has bombed. Also a lot of critics have soured on it. Anne Hathaway will be the only actor nominated. Do I think she's going to win? Yes. But I don't consider her a lock like Waltz, Ledger, Monique, Hudson, etc. I can see an upset here.

Interesting everyone thinks DDL is a lock too. I mean, he appears to be the favorite, but the Oscars are pretty stingy when it comes to handing out a 3rd Oscar. Look how long it took Streep to get hers! Tom Hanks should have 3 right now but he doesn't...I just think it's possible an Adrien Brody type upset could happen. Hawkes? Phoenix? But it wouldn't surprise me either way.

Streep was never in a best picture contender playing the title character. Tom Hanks hasn't been nominated in 11 years and two Oscars is just fine for him IMO.

What I'm saying is, he should've won for Cast Away over Russell Crowe's "performance" in Gladiator.

No, an Adrien Brody upset cannot happen for a lot of obvious reasons (no actor in a very formidable picture contender that will win screenplay and/or director, no dark horse in a field of previous winners, not viewed as an open, two person race between former winners, etc.).

Hugh Jackman can pretty much win.

Also, Jackman is getting nominated, and after seeing the film I wouldn't be surprised if he starts gaining momentum towards the Oscar with the guilds. It is a very powerful performance and he could peak at the right time here.

It's funny that you actually convinced yourself of this and that Crowe actually deserved his Oscar.

An Adrien Brody upset would make sense, but I don't see who would be the Adrien Brody of 2012. Jackman's film is not as acclaimed as Brody's (and it won't win Screenplay and Director), Phoenix might end up being snubbed... maybe Cooper?

I never said Crowe deserved the Oscar. I wouldn't have given it to him...but was he the most deserving of the nominated five? Yes.

Concerning Jackman, I think the Globe and even SAG could be easy gets. Les Mis did very well overseas so I could see BAFTA rewarding him as well. It might not happen, but if anyone is going to dethrone DDL, I would bet money that it will be Jackman.

If Jackman wins, will he sing his acceptance speech?

Does Kramer vs. Kramer not count?
(yes, I know of course she won in Supporting, but she was playing one of the title character)

Well, she did not need that BP nod after all.

Not only fine but a bit of a bonus.

He'll win the Globe now but he's not beating DDL head to head anywhere, not BFCA, not SAG, not BAFTA.

I bet he's holding out hope for a Crowe nod again.
