    This sounds like a challenge!

Not trying to be facetious here, just curious.

(Of course the apparent good WOM will help it out tremendously.)
Like, what rock are you under that people around you haven't heard of Les Miserables? Seriously, I don't get this. Les Miserables is one of the most popular and beloved stage musicals ever. I don't think I know anyone who hasn't at least heard of it.

The only that gives me pause is that I know women who were in her same demographic that also creamed themselves over the movie versions of Rent and Phantom of the Opera. So I take it with a grain of salt. Though I did feel a little bad not being moved by the film as she sniffled her way through the final scene, heh.

In the theater I was in everyone was bawling their eyes out except for the young couples behind me complaining about all the singing. The rest of the theater wept and then applauded during the credits.

Can we make Lea Michelle an Oscar nominee somehow? This needs to happen.

My Queen slayed me! She absolutely killed her performance! Ugh, so many people were sobbing throughout the film! I'm planning on seeing it again, but I'm waiting till it cools off because mostly all of the showings were sold out.

Well, with Glee shut out at the Globes and SAG she's gonna need a darn good excuse to be on any red carpet this year.

'Les Mis' Mania: Album Bows at No. 1 on Sdtks Chart, Anne Hathaway's 'Dream' Biggest Selling Track

It's "Les Miserables" mania on the Billboard charts this week.

"Les Miserables: Highlights From the Motion Picture Soundtrack" arrives at No. 1 on the Soundtracks chart with 43,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan. It concurrently bows at No. 33 on the Billboard 200.

The album was released on Friday, Dec. 21 -- four days before the film's release on Christmas Day. The soundtrack sold 43,000 in less than three full days on sale, as SoundScan's tracking week ended on Sunday, Dec. 23.

60% of its first-week sales came from digital downloads, with Amazon MP3 fueling a chunk of that sum courtesy of a $5 sale price. The album has been marked down to $5 since release.

Released on Republic Records, the "Les Miserables: Highlights" album contains 20 songs featured in the film. It is unknown if a more complete soundtrack will eventually see a release, but don't rule it out.

The biggest selling song from the album last week was "I Dreamed a Dream," performed by Anne Hathaway. The download sold 20,000 copies.

Over on the Top Cast Albums chart, which ranks the top-selling musical theater show albums of the week, a full half of the chart's top 10 is occupied by "Les Miserables" titles.

On the tally, the original Broadway Cast Recording rises from No. 3 to No. 2 (3,000 sold; up 34%) while the Original London Cast Recording is steady at No. 5 (2,000; up 27%). The "Les Miserables Live! New 25th Anniversary Production" set is also a non-mover at No. 7 (2,000; up 41%) while the "Les Miserables: In Concert at the Royal Albert Hall" production is also stationary, at No. 8 (1,000; up 41%). Rounding out the "Les Mis" offerings on the Cast Albums chart this week is the "Highlights" album from the Original Broadway Cast Recording, which holds at No. 10 with just over 1,000 (up 47%).

The soundtrack is gonna be big. The Chicago and Mamma Mia soundtracks were huge, and this is looking at a similar box office total to both.

Glee somehow still got an Ensemble nod at SAG.

Great. Now who's going to watch Sunday Rose on SAG night??

You're probably right, but why anyone would want to listen to the movie soundtrack (as opposed to the various cast albums) is beyond me--with the exception of Barks and Tveit, no one else in the film comes close to the quality of the voices in any of the cast albums.

I'll say this for the soundtrack...the realism acheived in the voices (the tears, cracking, breathiness, emotion) works beautifully in the context of the film, but as a soundtrack for your listening pleasure; not so much.

lol she has to twist every situation to be about her...I loved it when she was crying and visibly looking for cameras at the globes.

It's bad enough that she's an Emmy nominee.

Lea Michele is like a second tier Emmy Rossum, both aspiring to be Michael Douglas's next wife.
