I used to think it has a chance to win... But only before seeing it.
I really hated the film. From the very first opening shots, it's obvious how orientalist the approach is and I found it sickening.
The girl's performance is very good, it's decently shot and all... But I found the film to be awfully shallow. It just makes us watch these "horrible" things that happen to a girl while saying absolutely nothing about it, with no purpose other than trying to manipulate our feelings.
I must accept that AMPAS may fall for it, enough to give a nomination (not the win, there's no way for that) but right now, I honestly don't see it happening.
The only factor working for its favor, imo, is that it's one of the two non-european films among the finalists. But even that shouldn't be enough.
