    Best Actor: 2013
Christian Bale in David O. Russell's Abscam (lol if this was the title)
    Bruce Dern in Nebraska
Chiwetel Ejiofor in Twelve Years A Slave
Oscar Issac in Inside Llewyn Davis
    Forest Whitaker in The Butler

I wonder if Carell and McConaughey will go deep enough in their roles to be given a lead actor nomination. They're good, but we'll see. As for Clooney, I'm sure his film will be extremely entertaining and maybe pick up a few accolades, even in acting, but it sounds like a big, fun ensemble piece, so we'll see there, too.

The title of the O. Russell movie was formerly American Bullshit.

McConaughey is going to get pushed so hard by the critics next year. I can actually see him sweeping at least the critics awards. They tried to make him happen this year with Magic Mike (mainly because it was the most accesible of his performances this year), but that felt a bit half-hearted. They'll go all out for him next year, I feel. Something would have to go seriously wrong for Matt to miss, as he's becoming too consistent and the role is too baity.

Yeah, it just goes so perfectly with his career Renascence this year. The only thing standing in his way I think is the just not being that good.

McConaughey's movie is directed by the guy who did The Young Victoria though.

The nature of that role and the physical transformation is already being talked about, combined with his career renaissance narrative, if the movie isn't terrible (which could definitely be the case) he'll be undeniable I think.

I'm not actually sure whether that's supposed to be a good thing or not. Even if you thought The Young Victoria was really good, The Dallas Buyers Club is a very different type of movie with a very different setting. The directors track record is not long enough to know if he can pull this off. So yeah, Matthew might be hampered by his film if anything.

But I think his performance will defintely stand out regardless.

They dropped the "the", by the way. Now it's just "Dallas Buyers Club".

That Hanks as Disney thing is either going to be another My Week with Marilyn... or it'll be another Hyde Park or Hitchcock. I'm thinking it'll be the latter.

I can't wait for this year. I really hope Oscar Isaac lives up to the early word on his performance:

McCounaughey has this spot in a walk. It'll be kind of sorry from Academy for this year. He's having terrific year, it seemed like they will go with Magic Mike, but sadly they won't...
