I was also arguing that because most of what was written about her was usually just part of the paragraph dedicated to the overall acting in the film and Tom Holland was getting most of the praise. But, people really seem to like this performance and this film (which I actually don't think should be written off from getting into Best Picture either), plus she's hit all the major precursors thus far, so she's looking good.

McTeague's straight... but he's also Spanish so it doesn't really count.

I've also heard Bean is straight, but I don't believe it.

Going by general buzz and awards gained so far, Watts is not on the same footing as Chastain and Lawrence by any stretch...

    1. Lawrence/Chastain

    3. Watts
    4. Wallis
    5. Cotillard

    6. Mirren
    7. Riva/Weisz

not sure I agree about 'no room for any other actresses' - Mirren, Riva or Weisz could pull a shocker (especially with BAFTA support), you never know...

I think the 5th spot is open between Wallis, Mirren, and Weisz. Don't count Weisz out of it, but I think out of these 3 she has the least chance of getting in, but she could be able to sneak in there. Wallis's campaign is picking up and I think she'll be neck and neck in there with Mirren, but unfortunately I see the Academy going with a more boring, traditional pick of Mirren.
    In a million years, when kids go to school, they gonna know;
once there was a Hushpuppy, and she was nominated for an Oscar.

I just cannot believe some people are arguing that Watts did some great works and performance or that she is beautiful. Okay she may be getting a little old but she is still good-looking.

Of course i respect every opinion, so i understand why some people may think she is just pretty but not that handsome or that they are not so fond of her as an actress.

And actually that's more and less what i'm thinking, i don't find her as handsome as some other actress and she is not my favorite working today but i will never come anywhere close to deny how great she was in some movies and that's she is a beautiful woman.

Hey now! I generally like Naomi. I just think her career is always going to be defined by one performance. And according to you, that's more than Meryl Streep will really be remembered for (and I kind of agree ).

Great. Now who's going to watch Sunday Rose on SAG night??

I love that McTeague is leading the (Nanny) Watts crusade!

Obviously, Haneke and Lynch are correct. Watts is the true acting Legend of the 21st century!

(And, no, I am not being sarcastic.)
    WE'RE GONNA FIGHT!

This weekend...one last chance to save Halle's career from complete oblivion. Oh, wait...

    3. Watts
    4. Cotillard
    5. Wallis

But Mirren is very much in the race for that 5th spot, she could do what she did in 2009 and get in with SAG + GG and i wouldn't be surprised if in addition of these two she also got a BAFTA nom time.
    what BAFTA screening?
