I love how The Master is at #8 but PTA win Best Director. I'm not even being critical, since I've come close to doing that a few times (2011 I give Refn the directing win but it is #5 for me, same with Tarantino in 09)

I've done similar things in my personal awards. I give Fincher the win in 2010 even though Social Network is something like my no.5 film of that year.

To me there are so many varying factors to a film's greatness, direction is just one of them. I mean, Beginners is my clear winner in 2011 and yet Mills isn't on my directing ballot...but the film has wins in Screenplay and Editing and is nominated for Cinematography and gets three acting nominations so...there's that.

Anyways, derailed compeltely, but I just liked the boldness Austin had to come out with it here.

This is Looper's fifth win for best original screenplay (NBR,Washington,Las Vegas,Florida,Austin) plus nominations from Chicago and BFCA.

It's almost certain to get a WGA nod so it's positioned itself very, very well for a nomination. The last three sci-fi films that had this kind of support for their screenplays went on to receive the nomination.(Children Of Men,District 9,Inception).

It's all to set up JGL as an Oscar triple threat in the next few years to come - actor, writer, director. The next Ben Affleck.

Ang Lee - The only 2x Bafta/DGA/Oscar-Winning Director!
Meryl on Oscars: Y’see these little babies? These are my best f***ing friends
and they never let me down. Try to get ‘em away from me and I’ll eat you alive.
