Also, I’ve been offered tickets for early press screenings of this TWICE. I could have watched it already.

But both times, they only offered me one ticket, and since my wife is as big a fan of this as I am, I’ve rejected them TWICE. If that is not true love, I don’t know what is. It may also be sainthood.

But OMG, yesterday I saw the first posters for this all over the city, and my heart was pumped. Stop it, McTeague, you are strong!

Just saw it. Not a fan. Cinematography and editing seem completely wrong throughout the whole movie.

Hathaway's I Dreamed a Dream in a long one take was heartbreaking though.

.. and that would be your gift for me.

I have not seen it. I might never.
Unless we can go together, maybe?

It may be a bit difficult to make our schedules meet at some middle point between Copenhagen and Madrid to watch this, but we'll be together when the revolution explodes and barricades arise, singing side to side! (and I mean, revolution will start soon when you all have to resuce us from economical disaster!).

This all sounds like a bigger, messier 'Dreamgirls.'

You know that you're literally asking us all (well, Tomo's first in line, obviously) for a blow job here (in French), don't you?

A couple of points that I liked:

    1. Russell Crowe. I am sorry, but it is a stroke of genius to cast him as Javert. His lingering anger and wounded masculinity, as well as his at times strained voice, is perfect for this character. Terrific and bold to give him this role; it helps making Javert a gritty and complicated character. So basically, everything you hated about Crowe I liked!
    2. The art direction. There were times I was taken back to Gangs of New York; the sets are this gorgeous, but this never becomes one of those silly set pieces that is all about the exterior - mostly because of the cinematography. You are there with the characters in their trials and tribulations. I would strangely enough have liked to see this in 3D.
    3. Hugh Jackman. This is a threat for the Oscar win - I am sorry, but if they are hesitant to give DDL a third Oscar at 55, they will give it to Jackman instead. Crowdpleasing and saintly if I ever saw it. Jackman was made for this part.

I did not like Hathaway very much - I mean, she's very effective but she came across a bit too calculated for me. Seyfried and Redmayne were good and Barks was fine too, but I would not nominate them for anything.

Truly - and you are going to hate me for it - the champion of this film is Hooper. This is very much a director's movie. I would not be too surprised to see him take that fifth slot in BD. Brava!

    Hope lives on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGH, someone should offer me this shit. My wife is only going because I won't talk of anything else. I'd just as soon leave her ass home! All she's going to do is make fun of me for crying like a bitch for 3 hours.

    Suce ma bite!

That's what I shall say to Les Miz haters, 'cos it's only logical to address them in French. And OMG, "Un francés" is Spanish for "a blowjob". Everything fits like a cosmic puzzle.

But the best thing about it is Tomo rescuing (resucing?) Scarlett's emoticon to sum up all this.

    indeed.

You know what's halfway between Copenhagen and Madrid? Paris.

I tell you, everything fits like a cosmic puzzle. All this can only mean one thing, the ultimate goal of everything: Oscah.

I will most likely (fingers crossed) never see this film. However, I can tell I'm going to enjoy this thread.

So I pretty much have no desire to see this anymore.

It used to be one of my most anticipated, but now...

    Life has killed the dream...

I'll check this out on Demand in like 2 months when it flops out of theaters.

    Will Oscar have Riva Fever?

    It's honestly not all bad.

There are some great performances but I lay the blame 100% on Tom Hooper for so, so many misguided choices. In the most intimate moments he thinks having the camera directly in front of someone's face is the right idea. Both Hathaway and Jackman basically sing to the cheap seats in the theater and being that close is a terrible idea. The film needed space, not confinement. It feels terribly claustrophobic at times and that was so terribly disappointing.

Well I love Camelot and its songs sung in extreme close-up. And Camelot is quite cult among les Spanish highbrows!
