Melissa Leo's 2010-11 season is literally the reason I am still Oscarwatching. It changed me.
Dench
Field
Hathaway
Hunt
Smith
I just watched Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and I'm surprised that Maggie Smith is even in contention. She did nothing for me. She just had a couple of scenes and lines but it wasn't anything special. If she gets in, it will only be because she's Maggie Smith and it could be the last time to reward her.![]()
That's exactly what I'm saying she did nothing. I hope that she won't get in. The Oscar nominees should be; Adams, Field, Hathaway, Hunt, and Kidman.
Honestly I think some of you would be better Oscar watchers if you just didn't watch any of these movies.![]()
Great. Now who's going to watch Sunday Rose on SAG night??

Wait... Let me be clear. You act like your opinion is any more relevant than mine for example. Well ... It isn't... At the end you'll see that I'm always right. I was saying from the beginnign that Wallis is out, and you'll she she will not be in the top 5. I'm not going to say that for Smith just yet, but you'll see![]()
Donezo is right.
I was much better at predicting before I actually had access to watching all of the movies that come out. In 2005, I went 23/24 with the final Oscars and the only movie I saw beforehand was A History of Violence.
Now, if only teenage me had known that that movie was going to be the beginning of the nadir of Golden Globe Nominee Maria Bello's career!

WE'RE GONNA FIGHT!
This weekend...one last chance to save Halle's career from complete oblivion. Oh, wait...
"...it's already done."

Last year I was not on this website but I was a member of few others forums, anyways... I predicted 5/5 Best Actor, 4/5 Beast Actress, 4/5 Best Sup. Actor, and 5/5 Best Sup Actress, also 5/5 Best Director, and 8/9 Best Picture... I predicted TGWDT instead of ELAIC.
oh really? I didn't know this. I guess the fight against breast cancer weakened her body more than we hope it would
I was underestimating how big she is with Dowton Abbey right now and was wondering - if she can get the out-of-nowhere-nod (well maybe BAFTA will start with this) in best actress for Quartet instead? You know somehow like Winslet was just not supposed to be nominated (and win) in supporting in 2008? I mean if the sentimental factor regarding Maggs is really that high why shouldn't that happen instead? How are her reviews for A late Quartet though?

There's something wrong with this signature.
Can you find that ONE mistake?
interesting factoid: Elizabeth The Golden Age was at 35% Rotten and a 45 on MC. Cate was still able to grab a lead nom.
The Paperboy sits at 39% rotten and a 45 on MC.
Will Oscar have Riva Fever?
I don't understand how some people can watch The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and not think that Smith will get nominated? It's such an Oscar-friendly role! She's an old, cranky wheelchair-bound racist who opens her heart, learns to love, and she makes a big speech as she saves the hotel while OMG Walking at the climax of the movie. It's like Driving Dame Daisy in India. When I saw the movie, I knew that its best bet at a nomination was Maggie Smith.
Smith is, as far as I'm concerned, in 4th place. It's Kidman and Adams who are fighting for the last spot (with any possible surprise fringe contenders!).
