I'm thinking Hugh Jackman is going to get ditch for a drama actor but i don't know which one yet.
Otherwise, are we still pretending Day-Lewis isn't winning SAG, GG, Bafta, Oscar ?
Does Cooper really stands a chance ? And why would they went for Denzel for a third when Day-Lewis is playing greatly probably the most well-known american in history books ?
1. Daniel Day-Lewis
2. Bradley Cooper
3. Hugh Jackman
4. John Hawkes
5. Joaquin Phoenix
6. Denzel Washington
7. Richard Gere
I still think everybody not named Daniel Day-Lewis is vulnerable. Cooper seems to be in the best position but I can still see him missing. My gut tells me Phoenix is in, I think there is some passion behind his performance and I still think his film will be in for BP and we all know everybody who will put The Master at number one will also have Phoenix there. I'm leaving out Washington, because he will probably his film's sole nomination (and it's weird for me seeing Hunt nominated w/o Hawkes as well as Hoffman and Adams w/o Phoenix. I know, Sideways, but still).
however it wouldn't be weird to see Hathaway and a handful of techies nominated without Jackman, would it?
So you could easily leave him out of the top 5 since that's where he's gonna end up![]()
There's something wrong with this signature.
Can you find that ONE mistake?
Cooper is in. He will be the newbie.
Therefore there is less need for Jackman. He is vulnerable. Plus Les Mis sucks.
I think when people say that actors are playing themselves they truly mean the actors are using their on-screen persona; playing their roles very similarly from film to film. Also, while I don't think Kunis would even make a top 20 of mine that year, she still would have been more worthy than....perhaps I shouldn't say the name since I'll risk personal attacks.
LOL. So Clayton Davis of the Awards Circuit thinks Daniel Day-Lewis won't win if Lincoln wins Picture, Director, and a bunch of techs. He thinks it would be too much.
I'm sorry, but![]()
I wonder what he would think about the fact that TLJ will likely win as well.
I'm not feeling Denzel at all. I think it's between him and Phoenix for the last spot so...
1. Daniel Day-Lewis
2. Bradley Cooper
3. John Hawkes
4. Hugh Jackman
5. Joaquin Phoenix
6. Denzel Washington.

If Denzel doesn't get in, we'll have another year with all-white acting nominations. Yikes!
Well, don't discount Quvenzhane or Dwight Henry yet... but I don't really see Denzel missing. His cons (film's buzz has stalled/he'll likely be its only Top 8 nom) just aren't as weighty as Jackman's, Phoenix's, even Hawkes' (at least Flight was a moneymaker). I still think this race is between Phoenix and Jackman, depending on how much AMPAS buys into their respective films.
But yeah, a second all-white acting roster so soon after 2010 would be... a problem.
Gary Oldman snuck in last year with barely any precursor love. Could Richard Gere do the same this year? I've read on these forums that some don't think Gere is well-liked in Hollywood, though I don't know if any of that can actually be proved. I completely agree that DDL is the only real lock in this category.
Denzel's an easy nod. But unless he does something at the Globes or SAG, he's not going to be a threat (though considering how far in front Day-Lewis is right now, I'm not sure anyone will be a threat to him).
I think Wallis is out. You could see the reluctance to nominate such a young child coming a mile away.
