God, I hope Wreck-It Ralph pulls through. The score in that is masterful.

    So...

Moonrise Kingdom and Les Miserables aren't eligible.

I don't know why for Moonrise Kingdom, but Les Mis' score, I assume, is taken ENTIRELY from the stage musical, considering the whole movie is sung, just like the play. Not exactly shocking.

I wonder what this insular branch will nominate. Aside from Lincoln... lol.

This is a very good sign for The Master and Beasts. I think The Master still might be a little too artsy for their tastes and, unfortunately, I believe they're going to skip on it. Beasts is an absolutely wonderful score and I could see the going for it, especially if it ends up in Picture.

Also, am I the only one who thinks an animated film will sneak into here? My money is on Elfman's masterful Frankenweenie score but Wreck-It-Ralph's score has a lot of love. They do tend to nominate animated films in here so I'd say keep an eye on it.

didn't Moonrise score come from previously recorded orchestra? I think that's why it's not eligible and Les Mis comes from the stage play, so not original either.

I hope After the Wizard gets nominated because I have no idea what the hell that is. And Saint Dracula! That needs a Melissa Leo-esque FYC campaign.

Also, super awesome that Jonny Greenwood's score is actually eligible this time around. I'd love to see him get a nomination, although I doubt it'll happen.

I figure Life of Pi and Lincoln are both in, though.

One or both of the Picture-nominated Middle-East Desplat scores should get in with relative ease. After that, who knows. I'm gonna pull for Beasts hope-against-hope.

I think Beasts will make it but I also think Desplat has a very good chance of being double nommed.

I was pretty sure Moonrise would be nominated. Had no idea it used pre-exisiting music.

Really? Most of Wes Anderson's films use pre-existing music. So much so that it's the predominant musical feature in his movies, like Tarantino (which is also ineligible).

Rust and Bone isn't eligible either. Hmm Desplat will have to get in for Argo or Zero instead. My favourite score of the year, which I knew already was ineligible was Quartet. The score that wasn't from other works was Marianelli at his best.

alot of people were in a panic that Anna Karenina's wouldnt get nominated cause it uses some Russian Folk music incorporated in it. Truly the best score of the year, but I am happy if Johnny Greenwood takes it, having lost to Marianelli back in 2007 with Atonement. Oh wait he wasnt nominated for There Will Be Blood right?
