TV side: Girls bumps Community or Parks. Ugh. Apparently the ONLY network show to watch is Modern Family...
Walking Dead bumps Boardwalk Empire. Nice.
Ang Lee - The only 2x Bafta/DGA/Oscar-Winning Director!
Meryl on Oscars: Y’see these little babies? These are my best f***ing friends
and they never let me down. Try to get ‘em away from me and I’ll eat you alive.
You guys talk about it as if its a bad movie? I mean seriously. Does a movie have to be a tearjerker or one that pulls at the heart strings to be a good movie? I'd say The Hangover is one of the 10 best comedies of the past decade. That and Superbad are the two that immediately come to mind.
Yikes for The Master. Even A Serious Man managed to make the AFI list on its way to the Oscar nod.
LOL, The Hangover is stupid...but it's also hilarious
But, it doesn't deserve to be in a top ten list of best films of any given year.
Beasts scoring here and at NBR is a pretty excellent sign. The Master missing both is......not.
Great. Now who's going to watch Sunday Rose on SAG night??
Well ok, but sometimes I feel like making $250M might be a deterrent to liking a good film.
sideline to original post: Now I'm trying to think of what the best comedies of the past 10 years are, other than those two. The short list I could come up with includes: Knocked Up, Christmas With The Kranks, Fun With Dick and Jane, and The Devil Wears Prada.
Very happy for Moonrise Kingdom and Wes Anderson. It's his first film in AFI's Top 10.Hopefully something similar follows in exactly one month![]()
I think the only two comedies from the decade (2000 - 2012, to make things easier) I could rank as all-time classic-worthy would be Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Zoolander. And I enjoyed The Hangover all right.
Christmas with the Kranks is abominable, yeah. As is Fun With Dick and Jane. Being the only person on this board who unabashedly loathes The Devil Wears Prada and its completely backwards, mean-spirited, absolutely disgusting human behavior passing as "comedy", I don't think I'm the best person to give judgment there.
Listing the best movie comedies of the past decade against the best TV comedies of the same period makes film look really bad.
Well ok, I know the subject of comedy is a divisive one on a film forum. But for the record, I didn't enjoy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and if we were to go all the way back to 2000 (I was just doing the past 10 years; 2002-2012) I'd also include Meet The Parents.
I'm sorry, but anyone who considers Christmas with the Kranks even remotely funny should be banned.
