This group did not like Lincoln lol.

And Naomi makes her first appearance of the season.

Samantha Barks and Emma Waston are both present again. As is Alan Arkin.

Love the McConaughey mention for Killer Joe!

    Hey, some actually inspired choices!

Love the mentions for Walken, Cabin in the Woods (!), the two tech mentions for Beasts (The major category snubs are a shame though), the overall lovefest for The Master.

You know what, has Wallis actually even been nominated anywhere for Best Actress proper, outside of Breakthrough awards? You have to wonder if this is a trend...

These are pretty conventional for them, their picks are often among the most out-there of the season (Best Actor 2006: Ken Takahura, Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles, Supporting Actress: Lili Taylor, Factotum; Best Actress 2009: Michelle Monaghan, Trucker; Best Actor 2010: Colin Farrell, Ondine; Best Actress 2011: Brit Marling, Another Earth etc)

Indie Spirits, the only awards groups outside of this and DC to give out nominees.

They even voted for Armin Mueller-Stahl in Shine back in 1997 as only critics group and that turned out to be an oscar nominee

LMAO a nomination for Naomi! Her publicist must be working overtime.

Love the mention for Rebel Wilson, who will probably be on my ballot. Odd that Emma Watson is their only Perks acting nomination. She's fine in the film, but that's all. But OMG I hope she gets an Oscar nomination somehow.

Great. Now who's going to watch Sunday Rose on SAG night??

    Thumbs down

She barely even did anything in the movie. Logan Lerman was the emotional core of the movie with the most complex role and at least Ezra Miller was funny and hilariously over the top. What did she do other than butcher an american accent?

Well, at the least, it's been a good day for Emma Watson! Runner-up at Boston and a nomination from San Diego. Not all that meaningful to us, but I'm sure delightful for her, and quite unexpected.

Emma Watson is the first-time Supporting Actress nominee we deserve, but not the one we need right now.
