Legend should, like, do a good deed by speaking up and campaigning for her ex-nanny Naomah though. I mean, Señor did campaign for and got her dear friend Jacki Weaver the nomination a couple of years back.

She is too busy running her stealth grassroots self-campaign for supporting actress. Beware, the Legend is coming!

I've been saying this forever. I've had a Chastain/Lawrence/Wallis/Cotillard/Mirren lineup for over a month and I see no reason at at to change it.

So, you're saying they'll nominate someone like Riva or Watts over her, because that's basically who's left? I suppose you can swap in Dench, but I think Mirren is in better shape. Her film came out more recently and her role is more baity.

As for Mirren hitting all the precursor's and then missing with Oscar, I can't see that happening at all. Usually when this occurs, it's either because the person has some sort of knocks against them (say, Angelina Jolie) or they're film is very un-AMPAS friendly (Tilda Swinton). Mirren is in neither of those situations. She's just not the type to get a snub if she's actually in the conversation.

I grudgingly agree. Riva is probably going to be end up winning LA and a few other critics awards but miss the Oscars/SAG. Which is such a shame because she had the best performance by far this year, IMO. They just love Mirren no matter what.

Girl, they're not going to nominate Riva either. It's a Haneke film.

I think Watts is going to happen. People are seriously underestimating the campaign powers of Summit and LionsGate.

As for Mirren... I don't agree with filmy that she'll get nominated everywhere but the Oscars. She'll get nominated at probably one of the precursors, tops.

Love that they put A Royal Affair in Foreign Film. Plus yes to Marion making it into their noms.

Seriously, she's started to campaign for weeks now. If the campaign power really worked, she would have at least gotten a nomination like Cotillard did. However, none of the awards nominated her in their top 5 best actress category, nor the film in any of the top 10 lists so far. She wasn't in Satellite's top 7, nor the film in most film critics' top 25. People are overestimating her as well as the film. This is the type of film doesn't get awards.

Oh yeah. I'm not certain she will be GG/SAG at all

I think you're putting WAY too much stock in the DC film critics, lol.

I think he's invoking Satellites + NBR, as well.

    LMAO, the Satellites.

Let's wait until BFCA, SAG, and the Globes snub her. I mean, really.

IDK, I'm so all over the place on Watts. She seems like she's getting in, but then she's seems like she's not. I have her predicted for BFCA and SAG right now, but who the hell knows with her. I still stay if it come down to Naomi or Mirren, they'll go with the Oscar-winning dame.

My opinion was based on every award that has been announced so far plus 2012 Critics' Top Ten Lists.

I'm not as confident in Watts as I am in the other four (Chastain, Lawrence, Wallis, Cotillard), so she's definitely in 5th place for me. I just feel like she's really working for it this year. She clearly wants it, and she has two of the best companies (now combined into one) working for her. Honestly, if she doesn't get nominated this year, I feel like she'll never be nominated again, lol.

We've had NYFCC, NBR, the Satellites, Boston online, and this. Only two of which had nominees... one of them (the Satellites) not meaning a single thing. It's too early to act like she's doomed.

Again, I'll agree with you if she misses BFCA, SAG, and the Globes.

She might be working for it and I'm damn sure she wants it, but the question is do they want her? I don't know about that...

SAG is really when we see whether Watts is in. So far neither her name nor the film has come up once. Even Tom Holland got NBR breakthrough, and i still maintain he is the only that's going to be receiving kudos for The Impossible. You can snatch my wig if i'm wrong.

Sorry, but Summit/LionsGate isn't Weinstein. You are overestimating their campaign powers. Besides, if you check LionsGate campaign website, you will see "The Hunger Game" is in the center of the home page. You figure out what that means.
