Laura's one of my least favorite songs on Bat for Lashes' album, not a fan of Werewolf--would never place it ahead of a bunch of songs from Idler Wheel (Every Single Night, Hot Knife, Periphery, etc.), prefer Bad Religion and Thinkin Bout You to Pyramids, like the other R&B acts more than Usher (Adorn is better), dislike Kendrick Lamar, etc. etc. Most of these tracks aren't even the best songs on their respective albums for me...
Losing You, Everything is Embarrassing, I Belong in Your Arms, Kill for Love, Wildest Moments, Flutes, You Know You Like It, I Love It, and Bad Girls are superior to anything in that top ten. And I could keep listing songs. But I skew pop anyway.
Yeah, see, I'd rank Werewolf and Pyramids above anything else on their respective albums -- and Pyramids is my favorite song of the year, so.
"This is not your daddy's HBO version of Mandela," said Weinstein. "This is the kickass version of Mandela."
Guess I'll finally get around to Channel Orange now.![]()
Nothing wrong when the song ends in the minor key![]()
Um, what?
"Werewolf" is one of Fiona's greatest songs. It's a masterpiece and my favorite song of the year. Every time I listen to it it's just...the peaks of emotion and power it reaches are stunning.
And "Laura" is the best song in the Bat for Lashes album.
I don't skew pop, though (although Fiona and Bat for Lashes ARE pop so whatevs), so...![]()

And Pitchfork really needs to start realizing there's more to non-American music than Britain. Considering their size, such lack of global choices is pathetic.

Bit of an upset at their number 1.
OMFG Swans in the Top 5!![]()
I did not like Kendrick Lamar's album that much, but it basically tied Frank Ocean's 9.5 rating (so I do not think that it is an upset).
I guess that's true. And good kid, mAAd city has really been holding its own versus Channel Orange on most of these year end lists. I suppose I just thought Channel Orange seemed like the likelier P4K choice.
