ACTOR: One-time Oscar nominees, who is most likely to snag a second nod?

Here is a list of one-time Oscar-nominees for Actor and Supporting Actor, from the years 1980-2002 (I left out the last 10 years as many of those one-timers will most likely snag a second nod soon).

I did this poll about five years ago, and it was cool as there were a handful of one-time nominees from this period that went on to grab a second nomination recently: Kenneth Branagh, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson and Max Von Sydow.

There are 46 names, but you can only pick 2 Choices.

The only ones from the list I could see in contention again if the stars align:

    Albert Brooks
    Kevin Costner
    James Cromwell
    Harrison Ford
    Ethan Hawke
    Samuel L. Jackson
    Greg Kinnear
    William H. Macy
    Liam Neeson
    John C. Reilly
    Sam Shepard

But even of those only Jackson, Macy and Neeson I actually find somewhat likely. Voted for Jackson (as it might happen this year) and Neeson.

ETA: Just realized Shepard is in August Osage Country. Is his role good?

Samuel L. Jackson and Liam Neeson. They both do paycheck movies nowadays, but i'm sure that with the right role they could score again.

I picked Ian Holm and Sam Shepard, because they still work pretty steadily in supporting roles and are always pretty solid. I can see one of them (or both) turning in some kind of standout supporting performance that'll gain notice.

Oh shit...I didn't see that I was only supposed to pick 2 (that's what I get for not reading your post until after I scanned the poll)

If a mod wants to delete my pics outside of Fishburne and Hawke they can.

Bob Hoskins was diagnosed with Parkinson's last year, and has since retired .

In the play it's basically a cameo in the prologue, and he doesn't appear again. Dunno how it'll be in the movie. If it's expanded though it could be a good role.

Went with Neeson and Jackson and seems like the majority agrees with me.

    Albert Brooks

I would love to say Neeson but his dropping out of Lincoln makes me think he doesn't really care about prestige roles anymore.

    John C. Reilly and Neeson.

I could easily see Reilly getting a good dramatic role or a juicy villain part in some semi-indie drama, probably in supporting. Neeson too, maybe some mentor role in a high-profile movie that actually gets good reviews.

I'm thinking Harrison Ford (with the right role, I can see the Academy honoring him in a career Oscar sort of way) and Samuel L. Jackson (he might even happen this year?!).
