I took her out for Helen Mirren. Riva is definitely getting in, she's probably the number one for alot of folks. Chastain and Jen are locks, then there is Wallis who might get shut out because people put her as number one on the young actress/actor list. So Knightley, Watts, or Cotillard pick up the scraps.

Shameless Oscar baiting and Shameless Oscar Campaigning is the same for me. And Marion Cotillard is the queen of the later.

Well I can't deny that. It did give her the win in 2007 so anything is possible.

I am sure, backstage, he will try to stir up shit on Zero Dark Thirty.
Well I think The Master folk may say something about that.

I don't think so. She hasn't really been apart of the conversation at all this year. It feels like all of the best actress nominees from last year are keeping a low profile and cooling off, it was an intense race.

Both Marion and Naomi will be nominated by the BFCA, just wait and see.

BTW, BFCA didn't nominate Helen Mirren for The Last Station, so....

Edit. I expect this week to be a mess. Naomi gets in at BFCA, Mirren doesn't. Mirren gets in at the Globes, Naomi doesn't. Weisz gets nominated at SAG and nowhere else.

The BFCAs are kinda unique with the top three rankings per category. You're not (necessarily) putting bullshit filler in most categories. What that means for Mirren's chances this year or if Watts will make it...

Hmmm, that's a good point. Come to think of it, they usually don't have that much filler. Even someone like Emily Blunt must have had a good deal of fans to make it completely out of nowhere. I suppose Mirren can follow her The Last Station trajectory, get GG and SAG nominations and that'll be enough.

That's why it would be extremely dire for Watts if she is not nominated at the BFCAs. Like, I expect there have to be more people who feel strongly about The Impossible than those who like Hitchcock.

hmm...This is true. People are more likely to vote for their real faves or those who need it with the top 3. Mirren feels more filler to me than Watts, who probably does have more fans. Like i can see someone putting Watts at one, then jessica/jen as 2 and 3.

Dame Watts, and her tear-jerker are in much better shape than the French girl and Free Willy IV. Know this.

Hm, Rust & Bone would have much better if it had been a subplot of Free Willy IV.

Emmanuelle Riva did an interview with Guy Lodge, so I'm pretty sure she'll also do interviews with some major people http://www.hitfix.com/in-contention/...phony-in-amour

    It's something, I guess.
