I can't wait to see her getting snubbed at the Oscars, despite her 'success in America' (supporting/cameo parts in Nolan films, a nothing role in 'Midnight in Paris' and a Razzie-worthy performance in TDKR) and an 8-year old and an 85-year old both manage to sneak in.

I really, really, hope she will be not nominated, and specially not over Riva ...

Cotillard is nominated to Washington... Damn I hope she's not happening. There's still nowhere to see Naomi Watts yet ; /

The Cotillard hate is distasteful and should not be allowed.

I have never liked her (as a person, I mean) and I think she is most liked in USA than in France (not sure about that, but here we know how pretentious she is in her interviews).

And I never feel connected with her Piaf. I know a lot of people adore her, but really, I just saw a good imitation of the singer, without any arc character. I don't understand who is she and the connection between the young and the old Piaf.

I have seen Rust and Bones, honestly she's perfectly find, but better than Riva (I have seen Amour, too) no way. It would be so unfair ! Even for the Academy.

Saying that, oposite to NoirJo, I think she is successful in her american carreer.

    Why, is she untouchable?

Cotillard is not THAT good. She could wait. Naomi Watts, or Rachel Weisz on the other hand, MUST happen.

Cotillard is a much better actress than both those gals...

Then Weisz, easily (and that is coming from someone who considers her performance this year to be almost unreachably good) but she's not yet on the same tier was Watts. Watts may not have the best rep in Hollywood, but her resume speaks for itself. She's kind of brilliant.

    Thumbs up

I became a fan after watching Naomi's performance in Mother and Child. How did she not get an Oscar nomination for it? She is so good in that movie.

True. But, Cotillard in Rust and Bone is nowhere near as good as Weisz in The Deep Blue Sea.

Go watch Mulholland Dr. because her performance in that is something of legends.

She is. It's actually my second favorite performance of hers after, obviously, Mulholland Dr.

Cotillard is definitely worthy of a nomination. She was sensational in R&B. If her win wasn't so recent, I would say even worthy of a win in this weak field. I hope both French ladies get in because Riva was fantastic as well.

I saw The Deep Blue Sea last night.

I can see why Weisz would win with NY but ultimately I can also see her following Tilda Swinton's path to Oscar last year.
