I bet PTA gets a needed boost from LAFCA.

Great. Now who's going to watch Sunday Rose on SAG night??

I'm worried for The Master. If ZDT steals its thunder as the critics' choice, it may even miss the BP nod. It DESPERATELY needs LAFCA, but if LAFCA is the only critics group that supports it, it's out in almost every front.

What do you mean by "in almost every front"? Just wondering what categories you're thinking about (I assume you mean categories?)

Well, I'm thinking of all of them. Not that it will fail in all of them, but it can have troubles in all of them. Frankly, I expected a semi-sweep for Phoenix-Hoffmann, but it seems DDL was 1st like, on every ballot yesterday. If the lead is so clear in Best Actor, I think more sympathetic people in AMPAS-friendlier movies could sit Phoenix out as fillers. In other words, if Phoenix doesin ignite passion enough so to be a real threat, he could miss in favour of the rest. And what about Hoffmann not even appearing in the lead or supporting ballots? And Supporting Actress was al along Field vs. Hathaway, with no mention of Adams... I don't know it was a really strong and odd snub for TM's actors what happened yesterday in NY. I mildly expect other groups to go for The Master (especially LAFCA) but if Phoenix and/or Hoffmann don't win a single one between LA and NSFC, I think they could be entirely snubbed.

Stupid NBR, apparently Perks of Being a Wallflower is better than Life of Pi.

Though they had Looper, so that's a plus.

I can't imagine anyone not predicting Bigelow to get nominated at this point.

Only TWICE has a director, after winning both NBR and NYFCC, not been nominated for the Oscar.

Bigelow's now won five of the major critics awards in four years (LAFCA and NSFC results still pending). That is some Bergman-esque track record yo.

And were those previous Oscar winners?

Bigelow was so in, even before NYFC + NBR. Now even the haters know it.

The only two people who missed were Ang Lee for Sense and Sensibility and John Huston for Moby Dick. Huston was an Oscar winner by that point in time.

We should be talking about whether she can win again, not if she's still only in the hunt for a nod lol

This race is insane. First it was a question of giving Spielberg his third or Hooper his second, and now Bigelow's second is part of the conversation as well. Crazy.
