That was really good. She's going to come across so different than the rest of the cast though, she's got such a theatrical voice compared to the others.

Well, she's certainly going to come across as different than Crowe, i.e., she's good

Barks clearly has the strongest singing along with Hathaway but this role should be getting way more raves than she's getting..

There haven't been any real reviews though, all we've had are tweets from bloggers.

My friend who saw it last week said all the performances were good including Barks. Loved that clip.

After seeing Les Miz, I can't believe I am agreeing with Sasha b/c I actually loved the stage production, but something about the time jumps in the film seems a little clunky and hard to follow. And, i think the voters will have to be fans of musical theatre to appreciate this film. That being said, I don't know that Hathaway has it sewn up, the win. She will definitely be nominated, but IDK that she has the win in the bag. Don't count out Hunt, Field or Barks.

Don't get me wrong Hathaway does wonderful work, but it wasn't a revelation. When she's onscreen, i felt as if I was watching a wonderful actress with a beautiful voice in a musical. But, when Barks and Seyfried were on screen, I felt as if I was watching a slice of their lives and they just happened to be singing. Weird, I know. They were just natural, and effortless. you wanted even more of them.

Seyfried has the best voice out of all of the female cast.

Oddly enough I also get the comparison to Sweeney Todd as HBC plays a character & does a musical number that is reminiscent of the whole meat pies number she did in ST. She is not a threat in this category by any means.

All in all, I really liked the film, and Crowe is not a great singer, a pretty spectacular actor though.

There's only one thing we can do to save the Academy Awards: nominate Nicole Kidman for The Paperboy.
