As far as the predictions go, I don't think having McConaughey in a shaky 5th place is as outlandish as predicting Crowe as the winner.
I don't really think you can call it outlandish when we haven't gotten legitimate reviews yet. The odds are, as I stated before, a previous Oscar winner will win Supporting Actor this year. Right now TLJ looks good, and I feel like Crowe will probably make a big splash. McConaughey isn't even in the discussion of a nomination, really.

    Will Oscar have Riva Fever?

Where did you get that from? Seems quite the opposite from the first set of tweets?

Yes, because all musicals are exactly the same. Plus, Rob Marshall and Tom Hooper are also obviously the same person.

    That's not true.

I know we haven't gotten any reviews for Les Mis yet, but going by today's screening the response overall has been rapturous, but pretty tepid on Crowe. I don't think he can get nominated, let alone win if that's the kind of reviews that he will get. Plus, you forget that he isn't exactly the most beloved person in the industry, so I think a nomination alone for him will be a feat.

Eh, I'm having problems seeing Les Mis win Picture without Hooper winning Director. This isn't a fluffy little musical like Chicago; this is a tearjerking epic that looks like it's going to tie Titanic and Eve for the most nominations ever.

Really, the only thing standing in Les Mis/Hooper's way is that he just won two years ago. If they had given BP to The Social Network, or even just given Fincher Directing while still awarding The King's Speech, I would have no doubt in Hooper winning.

I dunno, I can see a lot of scenarios in which there's a Best Picture/Director split this year, and for me all of them end up with Ben Affleck holding the director Oscar.

I don't get this. What about Argo's direction makes you think it's going to beat Spielberg, Hooper, Ang Lee, Tarantino, or Bigelow? At this point I can very well envision him not even being nominated.

Affleck is still n.1, there is no denying...and let's not forget that he directed the most critically acclaimed american movie of the year! Jst no, i firmly think he's going to win this thing.

I just don't see Argo getting back on top of Lincoln and Les Mis (if it's the real deal). If can see Lincoln or Les Mis being BP without BD films, but not with Affleck or Russell or Lee winning BD... it'd have to be something like Zero Dark, Impossible, etc. as that BD
