I don't see La Wallis happening.
The academy may like them young and pretty but, C'mon!!!
I'm predicting category fraud or a complete snub (but I'd love to be wrong about this and see her get a Best Actress nod).
And back to May!
Sasha hates the idea that AMPAS members are gonna like the T & A of Miss Lawrence a little too much ...
She was 21 at the time of the shooting of SLP.
Predictions:
1-Lawrence (Everybody see her on top and the only american actress in the top 5, shame on Hollywood for that!)
2-Cotillard (Academy member and raves reviews about her performance)
3-Chastain (Homeland's effects & sensibility of the subject)
4-Mirren (Monument and the only actress in a biopic)
5-Riva (Best performance of the year)
Dream list:
1-Riva (Just astonishing and so real, best perf of the year)
2-Cotillard (The only movie that made me cry this year and her finest work so far)
3-Lawrence (I hated HG, sorry but I definitely LOVED her in SLP, she has everything it takes to be great, everything!)
4-M-E Winsted (I love this girl and she nailed every lines in the touching and underrated Smashed)
5-K.Knightley (She is absolutely gorgeous as Anna K. and she hit a whole new level of acting)
Unfortunately for them, Winsted and Knightley probably won't happened but it would have been very well deserved IMO.
I'm very happy Cotillard is campaigning, it's obviously working because she is in nearly every best actress' talks and lists.
I never saw a foreign movie pushed this way by a studio, Sony must be planing something big because she's making a lot of national publicity. Knowing that "R&B" can't compete for best foreign film it's a bit weird, but on another hand she's also certainly THE foreign actor with the most box office potential right now (Sorry Penelope Cruz and Audrey Tautou but we didn't saw you for a while now), so maybe they just want to make money hoping for a big limited opening. My guess is they must be convinced to be able to get two nominations for Sony in the same category.
I really like Lawrence but it's not like she's the most beautiful actress around - she's cute but can't compete with the like of Marion, Keira or Charlize looks-wise, which is why I find it so baffling that people on different boards say she's the frontrunner only because of her looks. Dunno, maybe it's due to her young age that she's not taken seriously. It's not like Hollywood A-list actresses tend to be some kind of trolls. Lawrence is good looking, but a dime in a dozen in LA and if the voters vote for her, it's because they like her/the movie/her performance/are bullied by Harvey. Saying Lawrence will win because AMPAS members want to bang her is condescending and sexist.
Beauty is subjective.
You're such a thirteen year old girl on Tumblr.

Thus far on Metacritic: Linings 83
Best Actress Winners 2011-2000: 54, 79, 53, 58, 66, 91, 72, 86, 74, 81, 69, 73
Even if she falls a few points (or, I guess, if she doesn't win), JLaw's movie will be pretty high on this list.
Ang Lee - The only 2x Bafta/DGA/Oscar-Winning Director!
Meryl on Oscars: Y’see these little babies? These are my best f***ing friends
and they never let me down. Try to get ‘em away from me and I’ll eat you alive.
At the same age. Fine, if you go by that. But you know, not all actresses break out at the age of 18. As far as career choices go, Kidman has made better when she actually could, so not by 1994. Knightley, for the most part, hasn't, and she could have, ever since that Oscar nod.
Though frankly, even if she continues to be great in costume dramas and make a film like ADM every once in a while and remain trashed by AD, that's fine by me. She just has so much potential.
I'll say it again, it is Mulligan who makes awesome career choices, even though I prefer Keira's work in P&P and ADM over anything Carey has done.
I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.
