    with great ink for Keira

Anchored by Keira Knightley's implacable turn as the titular heroine torn between two men, Anna Karenina will draw discerning audiences, and could prove a slow and steady awards season success if viewers can appreciate—and see beyond—its technical genius.

Keira Knightley more than meets the challenge of this supremely demanding role—the actress' fierce loyalty to her character sells Anna's most damningly selfish moments, her resolve allowing the movie to comfortably straddle the line between florid melodrama and Synecdoche, St. Petersburg.

AK has a 59 on Metacritic so far. Do you think it will improve? Didn't know much about it, but surprised.

    Says 61 now.

Edelstein's 40 brought down the score 6 points.

It went from 65 to 59 to 61.

    I think it'll end up between 73 and 76.

ADM started out in this range and ended up there (76). While ADM even had a red score to begin with which AK doesn't have.

Cotillard is running out of ways to even miss a SAG nomination. First Wallis becomes ineligible, then Streep's distributor kicks her to the curb. Who are left as potential SAG contenders?

Chastain, Cotillard, Dench, Knightley, Lawrence, Mirren, Riva, Watts -- that's 8, including Marion.
Riva is surely less of a SAG choice than Cotillard, so at worst, Cotillard is #7 for SAG. Certainly plausible.

Well it is the one award she hasn't won yet. So it's the one I always feel like she'll never win or is most likely to be snubbed for.

    It's at 67% on RT. 29/14.

You've got to be one of the most thin-skinned bullies on the block. You laugh at and make jokes about other actresses, but spew vitriol when someone does the same about Knightley: your sense of humor is flagrantly narrow in scope. You mock others for 'ranking' actresses in prediction threads, but continue to frequent those threads without making any actual predictions of your own. You make sweeping generalizations about "white people", "American actors", and US "patriotism". And when you're not laughing, criticizing, mocking, or generalizing, you resort to a shockingly limited and absurdly predictable repertoire of language and one-liners that makes E.L. James look like a wordsmith, and that portrays yourself as nothing but an absurd caricature.

Ugh, Keiramania used to stand for class, beauty, talent and decorum.

I miss the days when Dally instead of Tanisha was the club's leader.

Leaving a screening of The Paperboy.

Dally's awesome. I loved those classic actress polls/threads, where he "discussed" Grace Kelly, Susan Hayward, Lauren Bacall, and his favorite, Geraldine Page. It was funny without being completely condescending and rude, like nowadays.

I'd say it's eight contenders now:

    Jessica Chastain
    Marion Cotillard
    Keira Knightley
    Jennifer Lawrence
    Helen Mirren
    Emmanuelle Riva
    Quvenzhane Wallis
    Naomi Watts
Well I think this is a good indication that outside of this place she wasn't considered much of a contender to begin with, so this doesn't change much imo. I think it helps Dench in landing that filler SAG spot Wallis leaves open. Considering Globe and BAFTA seem likely as well I'm coming around to the idea of her sneaking in, though even with all three of them I wouldn't necessarily count on it this year.

Oh yeah blame Keiramania for everything. You people, all of you, are always starting shit. You enjoy the baiting, the snide comments and the malicious attacks. When I snap back, all of a sudden, everyone has an issue? What cracks me up more than anything on AD is the blatant hypocrisy. Just watch, a page after this the same people nostalgic for a more "civil" and "mature" era will be the first ones starting shit and stirring the bait pot. I simply cannot. Eating your cake and having it? No mam, thank you mam.

Have you noticed in the last couple of pages, people also poked fun at Meryl Streep and Maggie Smith as well? When it comes to AD and actresses, people make jokes. They're usually pretty harmless.

You bringing up Madelah and his post to with_one_voice though was bordering on personal attack though, so I'd watch out unless you want to have to deal with the moderators.
