Eh, Tintin was raved in Europe and War Horse had many champions abd widely positive reviews in RT and MC (and many oscar nominations including Best Picture).

And I agree with Erik, it is much better written and reasoned than most of his reviews in the last many years.

    Of course it was expected.

Armond is a contrarian. Most critics raved about the film.

    Do the math.

I'm not saying Tintin or War Horse were poor received, but almost no one raved either one in the US.

War Horse has only 2 100s less than Lincoln. And it was a Best picture nominee, and up until the guilds started snubbing it we all thought it was a Top 5 contender. It’s silly to act as if White was the only one to love it.

    Chuck Koplinski 4/4: http://www.news-gazette.com/news/art...powerfully-hum

Day-Lewis is more than ably supported by Sally Field, who creates a more sympathetic Mary Todd Lincoln than has been previously on display, and Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens, a fierce abolitionist who must temper his passion if he's to be of any use to the president. Their efforts as well as those of Spielberg, screenwriter Tony Kushner and many others will be remembered when end-of-the-year awards are handed out. Any accolades they receive will be well-deserved as they've collaborated to do what many would not have thought possible — in stressing the humanity of Lincoln, they've managed to elevate his historical stature even higher still.

I think we have a solid consensus on the film and have no reason to post anymore reviews.

Well the guilds did snub it and it wasn't a top 5 contender no matter what we thought before hand and that's my point. These films aren't that close to one another in acclaim; a 14 point difference on MC is a lot. Oh and it wasn't only the guilds that snubbed, so did BAFTA and the GG.

That wasn't your point. Your point was that White was raving WH because nobody else was. That's simply wrong.

Ok, this is semantics. Of course some people raved WH, but it was not as universally praised as Lincoln currently is, so it doesn't surprise me that White would be less receptive to Lincoln.
