Truly random precursor fact: The Washington DC Film Critics not only listed the animated film "9" as one of their Best Film nominees but they also nominated Elijah Wood in their Lead Actor category for his voicework. Not nominated in that category: Jeff Bridges, who won for Crazy Heart that year.
    Last five movies seen:
    Chunhyang (2000) **1/2
Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) **
    Valhalla Rising (2009) ***1/2
    Young Adult (2011) *
    How I Ended This Summer (2010) *1/2

The Bucket List made NBR's top 10 of 2007 over There Will Be Blood

    Aren't outliers great?

And P.T. Anderson had a few misses that year. He also missed out on a Director nomination at the BFCA, while Sean Penn, Sidney Lumet and Tim Burton got in!

Is Life of Pi dying/dead? If anything mysteriously disappears from the awards race, it will be that. Does anybody feel strongly for it?

I feel like it's dying, too. And I don't think anyone cares.

Even Lights Camera Jackson won't be voting for it.

Life of Pi NEEDS to be in BP/BD. Otherwise I have nothing to support and I'll just spend time cheering for Meryl's campaign next year.

Ang Lee - The only 2x Bafta/DGA/Oscar-Winning Director!
Meryl on Oscars: Y’see these little babies? These are my best f***ing friends
and they never let me down. Try to get ‘em away from me and I’ll eat you alive.

Yeah, NBR's complete absence from the Top 10 was a worrying sign.

It'll be on BFCA's Top 10, and it might miss the Globes lineup... wait... ZDT, LIncoln, Argo, Django... Nah, it's definitely there, Globes are not nominating The Master over it. It'll disappear in the big guilds, though: it won't be in SAG, it can easily miss in DGA, it's probably inelligible in WGA and it was in trouble already over there... BAFTA is kind to Ang Lee, though. But yeah I agree it seems to be in some trouble.

I don't think so,......yet. It's absence from NBR is a little odd but don't forget NBR tends to put alot of their favorites and not necessarily Oscar favorites on the list, maybe only 4 or 5 they put on the list. Life of PI can still come back with an LA win or NSFC win. I think it gets GG and BFCA nom even if it does miss SAG.
