    Restore your faith!

I should probably confess that I have never been a big Les Mis fan. When I first saw it on Broadway, it made me squirm in my seat as if someone had dumped a packet of itching powder down my shirt. Nunn and Caird’s staging, with its revolving turntables and almost cinematic fluidity, was (and remains) brilliant. But the score, though infectious to a fault, struck me as bombastic and cloying, and Hugo’s complex story seemed to fly by in a series of blink-and-you-miss-them plot points.

And yet, when I find myself on a plane to London for a private screening of a still-rough cut of the movie that not even its stars have seen, I’m excited because with this cast and this director, how bad could it be? In fact, it turns out to be a spectacular achievement that, anchored by powerful performances from Jackman as Valjean, Crowe as Javert, and Hathaway as Fantine, reconnects the musical to the novel’s narrative richness and moral vision.

I think he just put down the biggest names, frankly.
I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.

No one would write about a film from a rough cut. Serious embargo.

God, i didn't read that!! Still waiting for Crowe's rendition of "Stars" to throw him in my prediction! I mean, the entire "A Call from the Vatican" number secured penelope Cruz a nomination, but i don't think it's the proper comparison btw..

    Oh come the fuck on.

A guy who is not a fan of the Broadway play gets flown up to London to see a rough cut of Les Miserables. He also gets to have a long detailed chat with Tom Hooper in his office after the test screening, and is then invited to visit the soundstage to see Jackman and Seyfried doing their thing.

I'm sorry if it's the kind of things the budget for Anna Karenina couldn't afford, but don't be so angry about it. You have a long awards season ahead with no Anna Karenina and little The Master.

Maurius is such a vanilla character. Not sure how they make that role interesting enough to get him nominated.

Redmayne's also generally annoying and homely.

Ang Lee - The only 2x Bafta/DGA/Oscar-Winning Director!
Meryl on Oscars: Y’see these little babies? These are my best f***ing friends
and they never let me down. Try to get ‘em away from me and I’ll eat you alive.

Y'all have no taste. Eddie Redmayne is HIGH FAHSHAWN. I'd love to see Nick Jonas try a Burberry campaign.
