I don't know why I keep reading on AD that Seyfried looks better than Barks in the new trailer... like, girl simply had more to do? Barks was in the background. Of course Seyfried looks "better".

That said, I was predicting Seyfried a couple of weeks ago, and I kind of want to bring her back. Honestly, part of it is because Mean Girls was playing on-loop on television last weekend, and my favorite scene from the film is still "You want to do something fun? You want to go Taco Bell?"/"I have ESPN... my breasts can tell when it's raining." Needless to say, I love her. And I want to see both her and Lohan at the Globes. OMG, maybe the'll have to present something together!

I'm not just trying to be a Helen hater, she really doesn't seem like someone that would win though. I think a newcomer like Samantha Barks would be even more likely...but it's all a moot point because Anne Hathaway's got it. The only thing she hasn't done yet is gotten pregnant...otherwise she's done almost everything else imaginable without going over the top a la Melissa Leo.
I completely agree with this. I was just thinking the other day that were Les Mis/Hathaway to bomb so badly, who would win... and I really like that Field and Smith are the only ones who can. Field has a great part in the BP frontrunner (imo) with several Oscar scenes, whereas Smith has a really typically, baity, Oscar part (she's racist but becomes a good person!), and she's having such a great couple of years. Hunt's performance just doesn't feel like something that could ever win. It's too suble and she has no narrative.

helen hunt can easily win awards because i think people are forgetting that she has won so many before. and also there are so many awards now that her chances just get better at winning something like the georgia film critics or the washington film critics or any of those. their not all going to anne hathaway and i also think anne hathaway is so far out in front that shes in danger of losing cos if people think 'oh well everyone is going to vote for anne so i might throw a bone to someone else' and if enough votes go to the same someone else then they can end up winning which i would love to see because i hate the idea of having to watch anne hathaway giving a speech.

more oscars and tonys for cate blanchett please

    You are so right.

But Mike Aiello and his army of Huntophobes have been anti-Helegend since day one. Read through the various BSA threads and watch how they've become more worried and more fanatical in their views (now even barks has a better chance to win, LOL?) ever since recovering Huntophobe ErikDean posted a positive review of Helegend's performance.

Just for the sheer trainwreck value alone, how could anyone not want to watch a season of Hathaway speeches? It's going to be Kate Winslet, Melissa Leo, and Gwyneth Paltrow all rolled into one, with tears that exceed those of Halle Berry's too, for that matter.

I can't wait for the inevitable poll: Which Anne Hathaway speech was the WORST?

    A. Oscar
    B. BAFTA
    C. SAG
    D. Golden Globes
    E. BFCA
    F. NAACP
    G. ALL OF THE ABOVE

Because I prefer the self-efacing demeanor, graciousness, honesty, and humor of Helegend's speeches to Hathaway's Meryl-wannabe excretions?

Given how naked she was in The Sessions, Hunt will probably accept any award she wins in the nude. Think of the children, jb!

I'm sure she'll throw something on. She hasn't already started planning everything like Anne probably has.

It's going to be hilarious when Sally Field wins no. 3, and the camera cuts to Anne Hathaway with the most insincere "I'm so happy for you" face there has ever been in the history of humanity.

well that must be the only reason, because Cosette/Seyfried are not going anywhere near Oscar. Anyone who knows the show with any sense would agree...

Just watching the trailer, it's obvious Seyfried does nothing but sing about love and make googly eyes at Eddie Redmayne. Which, granted, is something of a feat of acting.

I'm sorry but I don't get the joke, what does NAACP have to do with Hathaway?

That's like saying Meryl Streep ca nbe nominated, because she's been nominated so many times before. It makes no sense and past wins for anyone has no bearing on this year's race...if anything, having won so much is the reason people are hesitant to predict Washington, Day-Lewis (etc)...you know, people with actual buzz, to win again this year.

And if people really thought "oh everyone will vote for Anne so I'm going to vote for someone else"....then we wouldn't have Academy-Award winner Mo'Nique, or Academy-Award winner Javier Bardem, etc. The frontrunner usually goes on to win the award anyway.

I'm saying she doesn't have a shot at a second Oscar win. I've been skeptical of her chances of a nomination back in like...July or August I think. I have accepted that she will be nominated, however with "The Sessions" most likely missing out on a BP nod AND John Hawkes being in a potentially vulnerable position as of late (see more people placing him at #6 and bumping Cooper in their Top 5...not just me), it does make me question her chances realistically. However, she is still in my top 5. It has nothing to do with "hating" her. I do despise her win, but I'm not childish enough to let that cloud my judgment. There is just no way (in my opinion) Hunt could ever be poised for a second win. Little box office, not a lot of buzz, previous winner with no narrative or reason to win a second Oscar...and she's up against a frontrunner, who despite what some want to believe...has everything going for her at the moment.

In the newest Oscar Talk, Tapley and Thompson mention EW seeing everything early and apparently their Oscar columnist, Anthony Breznican, has Anne Hathaway at #1 on his predictions. Apparently he had to write a cover story about the film.
