Its overseas gross will probably at least double whatever it makes in the U.S., meaning it should be good for at least $300 million worldwide. So anyone that preemptively called the movie a flop should probably be feeling really dumb right 'bout now.

So, Lincoln is not adding any theaters and Silver Linings is only adding 4 for this weekend. WTF? Anna Karenina gets the biggest expansion, going up to 384.
well Anna is by Atonement's understanding getting good PTA...whatever the F that means? I mean the film is getting good WOM, and is climbing up the charts. I mean from 20 to 12 in two weeks is pretty impressive. However I think it will make the top 10 but only be there for like two weeks and then go back down.
Anna Karenina ranked #6 on Thursday with only its 66 theatres. It's per theatre average had been rising daily. Hoping this indicates good WOMcan't wait to see what the expansion does this weekend.

Ben Fritz @benfritz Terrible CinemaScore, like "Killing Them Softly's" F, doesn't necessarily mean a film is awful but that opening night auds felt deceived
Wow. That's pretty damn awful. Though someone at World of KJ said that their screening had the most walkouts he's ever seen at a movie. Considering what I've heard about it that isn't too surprising.
He is right though. I mean, Adam Sandler comedies have always gotten decent grades, while Solaris is one of the only movies to get an F from Cinemascore.

Lincoln is getting terrific WOM, even before the Oscar noms. Think ABM, TKS and SDM.
C'est pas notre faute. It's not our fault.
From Deadline:
During the week, Wall Street called DreamWorks Animation’s Rise Of The Guardians “one of the most disappointing releases in the company’s history” – enough to hurt the public company’s share price. Analysts expected to see $55M-$58M for the toon over Thanksgiving – not $32.6M. But they join Hollywood in still struggling to understand why audiences rejected the film. No momentum even now.
A few months ago I myself was predicting an easy $200+ million for Guardians - it seemed like such a fool-proof concept! But DreamWorks kinda flubbed the marketing on it, and seemed to be going off the hope that an animated movie with a holiday setting and co-starring Santa would automatically perform well over the holidays. And Wreck-It Ralph pretty much stole its thunder in every way.

Goddamn, Lincoln's BO performance has been amazing. Although, the older adult audience has basically been starved for films geared to them, until recently. Argo and Lincoln doing well SHOULD be a hint to studio executives that there's a market for these kind of films.
I know basically nothing about Killing Them Softly, but as soon as I saw someone compare it to The American I knew it was going to be buried.
Weekend estimates
This is the first post-Thanksgiving weekend apparently to make over $100 million. Pretty darn good, especially since the two wide releases flopped.
Really good holds by everything, really. Especially Silver Linings - a 24% drop despite adding a miniscule amount of theaters! AK actually expanded pretty well, and is doing abut as well as it can, probably.
