88ish puts it behind some Potters and some Twilights as far as November openers go.

Exhibitor Relations @ERCboxoffice Spielberg's LINCOLN debuted in 11 theaters & grossed $900k--$81,818 per.
Very strong number for Lincoln. It may be less impressive when you consider that say, Black Swan had a similar PTA with more theaters, but I don't think it's much of an indicator for its future prospects - it'll do well no matter what (Especially with strong WOM).
Also, Skyfall opens to $87.8 million. Nothing short of incredible. Considering awesome WOM this should easily become the most-attended Bond film (Second chart down) in the U.S. since You Only Live Twice - 45 years ago! It really will go on for another 50 years...

It's impressive how long Bond has gone on given how only the Connery era was OMGHuge. But international grosses probably have been very helpful, esp since Bond is decidedly non-American. Also surprised at how big Die Another Day was.
I guess by the end of the year Bond will remain tied with Twilight for # of movies with at least (adjusted) a quarter of a billion domestically.

Exhibitor Relations @ERCboxoffice Worldwide domination! SKYFALL scored $89M overseas this weekend. Int'l total: $428.6M, Worldwide total: $518.6M
As of now, Lincoln is the 25th biggest opening weekend PTA ever, and third of the year, behind The Master and Moonrise Kingdom.
Great news for both Skyfall and Lincoln. I'm seeing both this coming week!![]()

"In 15th place, Steven Spielberg's Lincoln debuted to an estimated $900,000 at 11 locations. That translates to an $81,818 per-theater average, which is second-best ever for a movie in more than 10 locations (behind Precious). It's also third-highest in 2012 behind The Master and Moonrise Kingdom. The historical drama's audience skewed male (55 percent) and much older (67 percent over the age of 35), and they awarded the movie a great "A" CinemaScore. The real test, though, comes next weekend when Lincoln attempts to reach mainstream crowds in at least 1,500 theaters. "
How is that less impressive when compared? Black Swan made over 100 million domestic, and almost 330 million worldwide.
Looking at the PTA record list on BOM, one can say that the worst case scenario for Lincoln is 45-50 million. After all, Precious opened on more screens to a higher average and went on to earn 47 million.
Skyfall doesn't open here for another week (22nd November) so you can add at the very least another 20 million to that International total - hoping it'll knock Twilight off its perch (since that twat of a film opens this week).![]()
