Agreed with the poster above. His introduction was boring. The character was boring. Heck even the rest of the movie was boring. I did like the first act though.

I haven't seen Lawrence in 10 years, so I can't answer specifically. However, given that Lawrence takes place in a desert, I imagine that style of shot would convey the emptiness of the land and also mimic a mirage kind of feeling.
