A lot of this was riveting but it walks the line at times between riveting and silly, lol. I know this is Murphy's style and I love the camp value. Sister Mary Eunice singing "You Don't Own Me" to a crucifix was a moment of OMG campy brilliance. Often, we are getting a serious examination of the roots of evil and then.....we get the Devil and often we get some lazy writing when it comes to the Nazi stuff and mind of a killer themes but once again, that's pretty much Murphy and basically, I'm addicted and intrigued. I do think that the most solid writing here centers around Sister Jude and I have to wonder if Lange has any kind of contribution to the weight of it. Even with moments of script weakness, the day is always saved with the high quality of acting. Actors are doing great work this season.
Although Lange is the raison d'etre for the show but unlike season 1, this time there are lot of other actors holding on their own very well (Lange4Ever is banned otherwise he might would have a heart attack.) Mainly the ladies: Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson and Chloe Sevigny. In men James Cromwell. By the way what is the accent of Lange suppose to be? It is not purely New England/Long Islandish and doesn't sound Southern either.
Anyway, I just wish that they abandon the sci-fi story thread.
Oh yes. Sevigny's zombie is totes owning this show. Let's give her an emmy for crawling on all fours and growling.
Please. As of last week's episode (haven't seen the latest), Sevigny hasn't done much but hump a couple people, blow someone, and then become a zombie legless creature.
Will Oscar have Riva Fever?
OK, but Jessica Lange, Lilly Babe, Sarah Paulson, Zachery Quinto and James Cromwell have all been stellar. Sevigny isn't actually part of the regular cast.
I'll also give a shout out to Joseph Fiennes. And guest star Franka Potente.
Yes, she was not a regular but she was part of the show in the first few episodes and she was very good in it. If she didn't get the chance to do much in last 2, then it doesn't mean that she was not good. In fact I it sucks that they killed her off so soon. I wanted to see more of her (and her character.)
OMG! La LAnge is giving the performance of her lifetime tonight!: love:
I love Claire Danes and all, but this is the best performance on television by a healthy margin. She is simply brilliant and tops herself every week. Tonight was just something else. If she doesn't use this episode for the Emmy's next year it'll be a shame.
Lily Rabe is pretty great too, but Jess just slaughtered tonight.

This performance is Oscar caliber tonight! I am stunned to see this kind of work on television. And damn, can Jess still be sexy on top of it!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, I'm speechless right now. She really is giving us some of the best work of her career this season. It's like a total star turn, but it's also such brilliant character work. I love it!
Ugh, the scene in the coffee shop with Frances Conroy!!!
Brilliant! And like I said on fb, gave me A Thousand Acres flashbacks!!
Seriously, without sounding freakishly hyperbolic, her work is only getting better! What a pleasure to see her be able to inhabit a role over the course of a few months as opposed to a two hour film. This is a master class in acting. I'll desist now. I'm blown away.
Honestly I feel the same. What I'm most impressed about is that when the season started, this just seemed like a fun character in a similar vein to what she did in season 1, but it has evolved into this rich, complex, layered work that frankly I didn't expect. This season will go down as a major highlight in her career.
I agree. I kind of expected a campy take on Meryl's Sister Aloysius and all the nuns in the movie pantheon but this has evolved into something much more complex and satisfying.
Great episode for Lange. And she didn't appear until the halfway point. Just like last season she is giving such a rich performance that is really way over and above almost anything else in the show. Conroy was also good and her look and character was really interesting. Great scene with rabe.
