You might not like Madonna, her SB performance or justifiably were against her even picked for it. Also, Beyonce might be able to pull off a better performance. Who knows?
But you cannot call Madonna's performance a 'flop'. Specially from commercial perspective. The reviews were excellent and the ratings were not only more than the game itself but quite high in years. I could also understand if you say that people/media were good to her because of seeing this as her kind of 'swan song' but still the positively of the reviews was obvious
:gets off the fanboy soapbox:
LOL. I don't know why the media is making this a big deal, she's lipsynched before. It's not like she's known for her vocals anyway. I thought Kelly sounded better TBH.

Beyonce isn't known for her vocals? She's an incredible vocalist (among other things)
I like Beyoncé, but her voice is nowhere near Whitney, Mariah or Celine in their prime. Yes she can sing and is a great performer, but vocally she's kind of bland. Her voice is not really unique either.
Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Xtina (when she doesn't oversing) are more known for their vocals than Beyoncé.

I think one of the reasons why it's so surprising (to me, at least), is that she sings live even during some of her performances with those complicated dance numbers and physical routines. So it makes it even more shocking that she opted to lip-sync when this just called for her to stand there and sing the national anthem. I guess it's probably the nerves (singing the national anthem at the President's inauguration does sound pretty daunting, even for Queen Bey).
The other reason is also the fact that she's Beyonce. I guess most of us (me included) hold higher expectations for the Queen. I mean, if Madonster or B. Spears lip-syncs, nobody would give a fuck lol.

I read your post and was like "ok, yea." "uh huh." But then I got to this part and I'm not sure I follow you...? Nothing against Beyonce, but you hold higher expectations for her because she's your queen? Going back to a previous line of discussion in this thread, the general public never really had a problem with Michael Jackson or Madonna lip synching, and they are generally referred to as the King and Queen of Pop. I think the reason people seem to have a problem with Beyonce lip synching is because she did it at the presidential inauguration, and it was the national anthem. Something about that just doesn't feel right.
I don't mean to say I held higher expectations for her because she's my Queen. I don't even claim that she's the Queen of Pop or anything, although she IS the defining performer of her generation. I think you're not at all familiar with how we address celebrities who like (and hate!) on AD. "Queen Bey" is merely an expression.
So many of us held higher expecations because she's Beyonce and she normally sings live. Madonna and Britney (the Queen and Princess of Pop, or whatever you want to call them) are famous (lol?) for lip-syncing during their live performances. So if they were the ones who lip-synced yesterday, nobody would give a fuck. Get it?

err, I guess? Actually, not really. But I take it you took offense to something I said? I pick up on a little hostility in your post. Anyway. My point is all the same; I think it has less to do with who the performer is (I'm sure Beyonce has lip synched before, and I doubt most people would find that shocking),and more to do with the occasion in which she lip synched. If Michael Jackson had lip synched the national anthem at a presidential inauguration, I think people would have the same response... and MJ's a performer who was known to lip synch all the time.
This actually did kind of irk me, to be honest.
Not because of the setting or any of that, but just because I really like and respect her and this just seemed unnecessary? I don't know, it's strange. I still think she's wonderful, but a great moment feels entirely contrived and phony.
And it also makes Kelly Clarkson look like the consummate professional.
She also performed as if she's singing live.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...=feeds-newsxmlThe news comes as a shock since she went to such an effort to pretend as if she was singing live.
The most dramatic moment came when the Grammy-winner ripped out her earpiece mid-song- a move that many singers do when the bounceback in the sound system goes haywire and they are unable to hear themselves correctly.
Now that it is official that she did not actually sing any of the song at the ceremony, it is clear that there was no real need to be concerned about how well she could hear herself.
Pulling out her earpiece just seems so unnecessary IMO.

Since when Beyonce has not good vocals? Have people not heard 1+1, Irreplaceable, Starting Over, Baby Boy to name a few? She might not be the best but she has quite strong and distinct vocals.
Well Whitney also lipsynched The Star Spangled Banner back in the day and is still herarled as the best rendition of it so who cares?
LMAO. Did he just say Beyonce's singing is on par with Brandy and Monica?
